Hi,

Has anbody tried the Sportster image IPTV plugin for the DBox? I 've got it working :dancing2:but looking to add new bookmarks, any ideas.

Download the plugin http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=218 and unpack and save iptv.sh to /var/plugins change the permissions to 755 (either with ftp program or telnet chmod 755).

Then in /var/tuxbox/config/shellexec.personal enter the following:

MENU=IPTV
ACTION=&Liste aktualisieren,/var/plugins/iptv.sh getlist
INCLUDE=/tmp/shellexec.iptv
ENDMENU

Install VLC and in the shortcut properties add "--extraintf=http --http-host :8080 --sout-transcode-fps 25.0000 --http-caching=32192 --avi-index=2"

Rename the VLC shortcut as "IPTV VLC" to identify it from the main program.

Run the "IPTV VLC" shortcut and on the DBox press Blue button -> sportster goodies (only for a Sporster image, any other image find the plugin) -> IPTV
then select from the "Liste aktualisieren" the available streams, select one and a bookmark will be added.

Now under Dbox button -> movieplayer -> bookmarks viewed the desired stream.

My movieplayer settings

Streamingserver = ON
Streamingserver IP = 192.168.XXX.XXX (the ip address of the PC running VLC)
Streamingserver Port = 8080
DVD Drive = D: (Your DVD drive letter)
Directory (VLC) = C:/Movies (Folder used for movies)
Datarate Video = 1000
Transcode = ON
MPEG Video Codec = MPEG1
Resolution = 352 x 288
Datarate Audio = 192
Transcode Audio (dvd/vcd/mpg) YES
Force AC3 for avi = YES
Use Buffer (WabberQueue) = YES
Number of buffer segments = 28

Hope this helps some, it's not my work but, credits to the Sportster team.

WOW... looks like Sporster have move to a new level, i done this tut few years ago using bookmark and its work fine, couldn't say if it still works 100% due to some (third party) that have now upgraded their players.... but can't why it shouldn't i was able to stream live footy on Saturday afternoon via TVU player, if anything the quality of the streams have improved in the last couple of years, so it should work even better now! the problem is finding the MMS source.

How to stream TV direct from the internet!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been playing around with direct streaming from the internet to dbox2 and finally got it to work.

So enjoy..........

First you must be able to stream already and be connected to the internet... (movies, record...ect)

you will need to edit the bookmarks (file) only! (to add channels)

use FTP find the file Bookmarks

/var/tuxbox/config/bookmarks

then right click then edit.

just copy the example below

save

example
*******
bookmark0.name=Pokertv Network
bookmark0.time=0
bookmark0.url=vlc://mms://win25ca.audiovideoweb.com/ca25win25001_1
bookmark1.name=Pokertv Network transponder2
bookmark1.time=0
bookmark1.url=vlc://mms://win25ca.audiovideoweb.com/ca25win25001_2
bookmarkcount=2

this works fine.

now go to
Tuxcom (file manager) normally in the blue buttom menu (cryo IMGs)

find the file bookmarks
/var/tuxbox/config/bookmarks

press4 (edit)
the blue botton (To linux format)
home and save.

refresh the IMG (reboot) or (restart neutrino)

start VLC (make sure the shortcut on you desktop has the "vlc.exe --extraintf=http" extention)

go to movieplayer
bookmarks

you should now see the above file (pokerTv network 2 links)
select one
press to start.

give it a 20secs BINGO!

hope this helps!
enjoy.

if you are having problems, even thought i'm using a meta editor it was changing format (you will need to confirm it is in linux format)

if you have any other direct links to any internet channels
please post here, it will complied added to one big list.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

People have asked if you can stream via a third party software like TVants etc...

Add this in to bookmarks.

bookmark2.name=TVU Player
bookmark2.time=0
bookmark2.url=vlc://http://localhost:8901

follow the first post for further instructions (regarding Linux formating)

start the tvu player
select a channel
start VLC
then go to bookmarks
select the above TVU player
give it 20-30 sec.
you now are watching Internet TV on your TV!

I've installed this and it seems to think it is working (I have managed to add some bookmarks).

But my dbox sits there saying "buffering" for ages. VLC's playlist shows
http://video-veuillezpas.stage6.com/1870440.divx:sout=#transcode{vcodec=mpgv,vb=1000,w idth=352,height=288,fps=25}:std{access=http,mux=ts ,dst=:8080/dboxstream}

so it seems to be trying to read the stream. But VLC reports the stream's duration to be 00:00. I've tried a few different streams.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Tony.

Can you view other streams ok :questionmark: I tried to access your link "http://video-veuillezpas.stage6.com/1870440.divx" stream from my PC but was redirected to a DIVX website NOT a valid video stream!! :hmmmm:

Can you play other streams on your PC with VLC WITHOUT using the dbox :questionmark:
Remember that the dbox usually only plays valid TS (mpg) video streams, using VLC and some transcoding it is possible to play other types of video. if I was you i would get valid TS video to work first then mess about with other streams, hope this helps.

The plugin allows you to watch IPTV. Have a search on google for IPTV mate.

Hi, Ratchet,
i would like to give streaming a go.
my setup is, win xp on desktop and laptop.Wireless router which is used by two other laptops and a xbox.
I normally use the laptop to connect to the dbox.
What's the best configuration? Should the streaming software reside on the desktop or laptop?
Can i stream if the pc is off, since the bookmarks are on the dbox?

Thanks in advance for your assistance

@destheman
Sorry but I can't give u any other advice than already written.

But as for the steaming software we use the dbox plugin & VLC. If you can access the dbox from your laptop just now than go with that. The pc needs to be on because the plugin uses VLC as the transcoder.

I'd been looking around to see if web browser would have been possible on it (just so my trusty box has something to do), but the last traces of Tuxzen have been obliterated and nothing has moved forward.

Be giving this a go real soon, very much appreciated.

web browser is already possible, the move forward from tuxzen was done by adding the links web browser code directly into the tuxbox cvs
