Only if you want to have a pretty good go at bricking your wii. Installing themes is the fastest way to mess up your wii and they should all come with a health warning.

Have to agree with the happy highlander, they might look good to some, but they add no real value to the functioning of your wii. It is far better to stick with the tried and tested usb loaders on a plain old nintendo "theme", no real chance of bricking your wii that way

All the loaders now have themes available for download to change the look of the loader, without the risk of bricking...Only the main system menu has to stay boring to be on the safe side

I put a red theme on my wii, it's excellent looking much better than the boring old original, but as stated above it is very risky.

agree with above... downloaded a few themes via gx loader... most worked - another locked USB loader up and had to reset to default seetings and then put back various fixes... not that impressed with the way most of the themes looked any way

Sorry to bring an old thread up again but I didn't realise that dowwnloading themes through GX loader could brick the wii and now am panicking (as usual). Everyone on here helped me softmod the wii last year and it went as smooth as anything (thanks for that). I have downloaded a couple of themes and now I'm wondering if that has triggered the little gliches that have occured and keep occuring. Sometimes when playing a game the black screen appears with file dump and numerous strange data and there are a couple of games that now freeze at a certain point, As you've probably gathered I'm not technical at all (couldn't tell a byte from a chip). Am I getting in a tiz for now, or is there something I should do to correct this?
Thanks and sorry for being a pest, but after doing so well modding it I would hate to cock it up or brick the bleeding thing.
Cheers

If you are only downloading themes for gx through the gx app then you have very little chance of bricking your wii it is only when you try to change the way the main system screen looks you will run into trouble. As far as games freezing and stack dumps it is possible these are being caused by the themes as they are slightly changing the app, shouldn't affect the cios but sometimes does. Also and probably the most likely reason for the glitches is that the loader and cios are outdated and require updating, if you haven't changed anything since the softmod a year ago you really do need to catch up as things have changed a lot in the last year with the introduction of the d2x cios.

Your spot on Highlander, it's 2.3 and CIOS 249 - I remember updating GX via online wiii a few months back when told to via prompt. Thanks for this, and if my memory serves me right I download file extract it to the SD card is it to the wad folder? I feel like a right numpty asking this as I should get off me ass n look on here. Once done stick SD card back into wii turn it on and thats it Bobs ya uncle n Fanny is a rude word. or have I missed a crucial part out

Missed a crucial part out lol extract into wads folder on sd card is correct, put sd card into wii is correct and heres the bit you missed lol launch hbc and select mmm (multi mod manager) then go down to the bottom of the list and select reload ios and select 236 and click ok then launch wad manager and install all 7 d2x v8 final wads. Then bobs your uncle and I won't say anything about rude words cause a good boy.
