it depends upon the year model or dash version

It depends what year the car is. Some early ones will work by obd and the later ones need taking apart because they have a m35080 chip. You need a new chip or a programmer that can erase the chip. Also you can do the LCM on all years via obd.

Bmw not work on OBD inside the car,or when have the new key(no lamp)
its work only if have under haube this Bmw 20pin conector,
when is old key( with lamp)

with keys is easy to check, lamp-work, no lamp -no work-must out dash

Thank you you were right and confirmed that it seems up to sw 16 it can be done via obd anything above cant. current sw on the dash is sw36.I saw options to change the value i nthe key and the lws i believe but not sure if that applies to this car or older car only with lower sw.

Dash radio how would I go about erasing the 35080, EWS, HCU & key??im assuming i need better tools to do this rather than just a low cost tacho uni??

you can just do the dash mate and it wont jump back
E46 are well out of warranty now so no point doin rest modules

you can only erase m35080 3 and m35080 6

m35080V6 and m35080VP are non eraseable with tacho uni

to erase the m35080, first save it under the right menu

then
3er E46/35080 /35080->0

then load file, write, then adjust KM
