dreambox 500s open pli help please...

hi i have the openPLi-beta-dm500 image on my dreambox 500s clone.

i have been through some of the menu, and kept it at most of the default settings (changed the time zone etc)

now its asking me "no diseqc" "simple" or "complex"

im not sure what i should choose now? i have a 1 metre motorised dish

anybody help please?

Think if you choose simple and pick multi sats,go into rotar set up and add your long and lat.
I reflashed one last week and it didnt take to long but Dm 500s arent the best to use with usals.

Put for full address including house number etc into dishpointer.com

This will give you you,re long and lat but you dont put it exactly like that so post back what it is and i will give you an idea what it should be.
Not that familiar with Dm 500s now as i sold mine over a year ago but im sure it wont be that hard.
Also have you added you're bouquet list yet?
That will make things alot easier.

There are less digits on a Dm500 compared to a Dm800 so i could be telling you wrong,hopefully someone will confirm what i think it is lol
Your lat should be 052.535
long should be 001.924 if on a Dreambox 800.
You write them in different on a Dm500.
With you being on a Dmn500 im guessing.
Lat 052.53 and long 01.924

These might be completely wrong as im not looking at a Dm500 right now but from what i remember theres 1 less digit to put in on these boxes.

You need to download a decent set of bouquets,i use Catseyes but these are Enigma 2 but they will work with Enigma 1 boxes you have to change a few things in Dreambox edit.

Download Dreambox edit,theres also a guide with it and Catseyes bouquets.
Hopefully someone can tell you if the long and lat are correct.
Just a matter of putting in correct decimal point lol

ok i have entered my long as: 0.192 (east)
lat as: 0.525 (north)

it doesnt let me enter anything after the zero, and i only get the option to enter 3 digits afte the decimal point.

wasnt sure if the east & north is correct though?

on 19.2e it is giving me a reading of:

SNR = 74%
AGC = 94%
BER = 0

do these figures sound ok, i thought it should be closer to 100% on this satellite as its the same one sky use?

On a Dm500 this method isnt always good for everyone it worked perfect on mine though.
If they are the correct long and lat you can tweek them a little.
Add a bit or take away a bit and see if that makes any difference but write down what they are now.
Two ways of setting up a motorised dish,usals and non usals.

You could also try and set it this way in the folder below courtesy of Rodbouy hes one of our members and all credit belongs to him.
Have you put the bouquets on yet?

ok mate, i tried fiddling with the long & lat but it didnt make much diff......not sure if ive entered them correct hopefully someone else reading this can advise me if im correctlt entering them.

i downloaded dreambox edit and also sgtflipflops buquet. i then followed the instructions and i think all is ok, i have managed to upload the buquet into dreambox edit and then used "FTP" to "reload settings on dream box" and then rebooted.....got the completed msgs after each step so i think thats worked ok.

i then opened the sat set up pdf that you gave a link for and saved 3 satellites (to start with) 28.2 e, 19.2e, 13.0

now im running a scan and so far 13.0e (hotbird) found about 90 + transponders

its currently scanning the other two sats

does this sound ok so far?......after these scans are complete should i be able to watch some channels?

on 3 sats (28.2 e, 19.2 e , 13.0 e) it found the following:

38 new trasnponders
385 new tv services
48 new radio services
187 data services

266 transponders with 1303 services scanned

does that seem right?

Hi mate you basically have a choice of usals or non usals.
The first way is usals,putting in the correct long and lat.
Thats the easier one but doesnt always work great with Dm500s but works fine with Dm800hd.
When you upload a bouquet that saves you having to do a scan.
You dont necessary need high snr to get a good picture but higher is obviousley better than lower.

how can i get more channels open now, like the ones on 13.0e and 19.2 e?

The open ones will be fta,you need to do something else to get the others but its something we cant talk openly about on this forum but we can through pm.
Going back to your dish it could be slightly out of line,hence the lower snr buteven on my box it varies from sat to sat and channel to channel.
