Hi Guys,

I'm new to this satellite malarky, but i have given Vermin the boot and i'm looking to buy a motorised satellite set up. Is this dish, motor and LNB a good set up:

Dish Motor LNB (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIAX-88cm-DISH-WALL-MOUNT-TM-2300-Motor-Single-LNB-/310229467284?pt=UK_ConEle_SatCableFreeview_RL&hash=item483b1e0094#ht_2700wt_982)

Will have it hooked up to a DM800 Pro. Will it suffice for 3pm football ?

Or there any recommendations for LNB and motors ?

Lnb looks crap.
Get an inverto black ultra fro ?13 on amazon.

I would invest in some t and k brackets.
My mate had 1 metre set up with t and k brackets and good quality lnb for 170 quid all in fitted.

Would still want better brackets on a big dish especially if its perched up high somewhere.

Dishes are pretty cheap, you need a decent motor and lnb but you will need a meter if you're gonna do it yourself.

Some get alot of satisfaction doing themselves but when i had mine fitted it gave the fitter problems and he had high tech readers with him.

Thanks for the all the help guys. With further research i think i'm gonna source my components separately. Here's the list i've compiled:

Dish: Triax TD88
Motor: Alsat Superior Dark Motor
LNB: Inverto Black Ultra Twin LNB
Receiver: Dreambox DM800 Pro

Will this lot be suitable for Premiership and La Liga footy (inc Saturday 3pm). I'm located in east London, so I should pick up a good few sats ?

I get everything i want to get and with the right sub you will get all the footy you need and more.
Get a 1 metre dish though.

Dish, Motor, LNB are all sound but if you can stretch to an extra ?30 get the DM800SE a lot faster than the 800 pro.

And has already been advised definitely get a strenghed T&K bracket and if your dish is going above the gutter line then a Scaffold pole is a Must as well with probably an extra K bracket to support the weight of the Scaffold pole.

Would disagree with you on the Dreambox 800se.
Far to many problems im seeing daily regarding timing issues.
The Dreambox 800hd is rock solid and though its not as fast as the Se its definately more stable.
Think the jury is still out for me on that one till they sort out the timing trouble.

On how many receivers i have 2 myself and have done at least 4 in the past few weeks for customers all the same Rev6 M/B and had absolutely zero problems.

You may just have a tricky one

Would get an Xtrend 9000 if i had some spare dosh.
Looks a nice box and has all the bells and whistles to go with it.
Think it has a slight edge over the Vu Duo though i wouldnt complain if my mrs bought me one.

Still think the Pro box aint a bad start for you're first hd box.
Loads of support being the biggest plus.

Here's the package I got earlier this year....

97cm TECHNOMATE MOTORISED SATELLITE DISH + MOTOR + LNB | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/97cm-TECHNOMATE-MOTORISED-SATELLITE-DISH-MOTOR-LNB-/360336214632?pt=UK_ConEle_SatCableFreeview_RL&hash=item53e5b64a68)

Except I replaced the wall mounting to a 400mm mount but found it would go of plumb when the dish was mounted, so I got a set of T&K brackets from a local sat supplier and found a scaffold pole and used them instead to mount the dish.

Any recommendations for a 1m dish mate ? All the Triax ones I can find are 88cm or 1.1m.

Gibertini is probably the best 1m available in that size range, But you will find the Triax 1.1 is around the same price or more than likely cheaper, if you have deep pockets then try and source a channel master the best there is.

I dont think triax do a 1 metre dish so the td110 1.1 metre will be the best , but 88cm is probably ok for london , especially with the inverto ultrablack

I have the td110 and have recently bought the superior motor and a twin ultrablack , so the old motor is being changed in the spring and the lnb changing as well , keeping the 1.1m triax and scaffold pole with the T-K brackets its using now

so mine will be similar to your setup when completed in the spring , with a dm800 and spider off it ( twin lnb you see ) so slightly more complicated but not by much

the main thing is check your walls and address/postcode in dishpointer to ensure you have a south facing wall suitable for this , before you buy , as location and position is everything , no good buying it all and finding next doors extension is blocking the southeast to southwest view

What is the advantage of having t&k brackets? My motorized dish was setup with pole only and when it is windy as we had 2 days ago in West yorkshire it was unwatchable so could it be the reason that these brackets were not used?

cheers

Easier to plumb and secured in 2 places, stopping any pivotal movement.
I have had a L shaped heavy duty bracket with no issues in 5 years on motorised system.

Biggest advantage is stability and you know for certain the pole is plumb and can be easily adjusted.
With the arm im guessing you might have to pack it out if the wall isnt straight and when ive had high winds and heavy rain my picture never breaks up.
It used to on my old sky dish,so im well happy with my set up.
Ive a friend who has the arm and his is set high up and he's had trouble when the wind was bad not so long ago and had to get a man out to realign the dish.
The only adjustment ive made on my dish since i got it was to skew the lnb.
Personally i dont think you need to spend a fortune to get the best set up.

Anyone know any suppliers of the Gibertini dishes, as the Triax TD110 look to go for about ?60, don't want to spend any more than that and don't want to go any larger than 1m as it will be mounted on my front elevation which faces south. Don't want ny nimbies complaining.
