Here is how I activate Guided Diagnostics and use it offline.
When you install PTT 1.12 it asks you to put in a client ID, I just use 123456.
So to get guided working I change the client id setting in the Volvo section of regedit and when I start PTT 1.12 guided diagnostics is not grayed out,

so here are the steps I use.

RUN to
Regedit.HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/SOFTWARE/VOLVO/SAFE CLIENT
Double click on safe client ID
Select Decimal
I change my client ID which is/was 123456 to 2468
Click OK.
Close.
Now Guided should be highlighted and working in PTT 1.12. It worked for me.

(make a note of origional decimal numbers in case you have to revert back)

Update windows xp, run the update Tech Tool module let it connect to the network it will take maybe two two hours to download all updates. then try it again.
I just got it working today on a xp pro 32 bit laptop for a friend mine, by following the above instructions.

try this:

GD (GUIDED DIAGNOSTICS) start:

go to: C:\Program Files\Tech Tool\Tech Tool\GD\app\

Find GDApplet.html and send it to desktop ( create shortcut)

Now you can run GUIDED DIAGNOSTICS
