I have been working on my friends 55 plate Astra I needed to replace keys as they were lost I took door lock out but I have a problem the 8 wafers in the lock some of them say 11 and 12 but machine only goes up to 9 any ideas why they would say 11 and 12 and not 1-9 as normal

There are 8 wafers in this lock. Where the wafer has a 1 in front of any other number just ignore the 1. The number you have left is the wafer cut. So 11 becomes 1 and 12 becomes 2 etc. All the initial one is to specify whether the wafer is fitted with the spring on the left or right hand side of the channel when you look at the lock from the front.
