I have now got my dm500s pli jade maxvar set up as I want and have setup sql and linked the channels i want and other things setup.

How do i make a backup img so if anything does go wrong i can just use dreamup and flash it again?

I found another thread on here but the plugin.zip doesnt work.

Thanks

option in menu to backup. file goes into your /tmp folder. FTP to the box and transfer the image over to your PC backup Done :)

Thank for the reply. I tried this as is what i have done in the past with commando images but it cam out in a weird folder structure rather than .img

anyway I noticed that dreamup can do it, but that was way back on the 5th page of google searches.

Thanks for the quick reply again

With dreamup all you do is backup via null modem. Straight forward enough.

I didn't think PLi had an image backup option in the GUI menu options nor via the Web I/F?

You can do it easily via Telnet by pasting this command into the console:

cat /dev/mtd/3 > /tmp/backup.img

But don't go powering off the DM500S until you've tranferred the backup 'as' (whatever you want to name it .img) to your PC via FTP.

The backup image will be Flash w/o Bootloader format sized 7.75MB and will be suitable for DreamUP to flash with.

nb: In Commando, as well as the menu image backup feature, you also simply Telnet in and type backup as the command. Gives you the same result as above!

Cheers- AL :)
