Hi,

I am looking for an E2M file to use with Cummins Calterm. I have a 2004.5 Dodge Ram with the ISB 325hp, 600lb/ft common rail. I don't seem to have an appropriate match in the E2M files that I currently have. I can connect to the ecm and upload the calibration using a different E2M but when I try to use F1 to open the parameters within the file, it doesn't work due to the config file mismatch.

The only E2M files I have appear to be for the 2nd gen ISB which is the VP44 injected version.

Thanks

My calibration version is 11201314 and my module PN is 3971105. hpcummins was nice enough to give me a Chrysler E2M 3978875 which suits module PN 3949993 and calibration version 11201316

What parameter are you trying to view, the difference in the calibration versions and config file should not be your problem.

Hi jctech,

I've copied the error log from Calterm and included it below...

The value of CalibrationVersion in Config File header records does not match value in module calibration. Config File value = "11201316". Module Calibration value = "11201314".

My current calibration is 11201314 and the E2M file is 1120316. As such it will only show basic information in the F1 parameters, and even then when I query rated horsepower and apply to the main screen it displays 0 (zero) and says in the error log "failed to monitor parameter"

Does this mean I need to find another E2M, or try and have Dodge flash my ecm to calibration version 11201316 if possible??

Thanks for your help

what parameter are you trying to use to view rated horsepower?

You got the file? tenes is the engine with common rail system? I have to be well understood according to Cummins does not have the calibrations since they ceded to dodge. At least not supplied in incal

I was told that begining in 2003 there was no longer a cummins ecm on the engine just a dodge ecm. did you use the obd2 port to read ecm with calterm? and it shows parameters? very cool! you could probably use something like winols to open the cal

I can do an upload from the ecm with Calterm only, Insite will not connect at all. I am still having trouble editing the .cal file because it appears that I do not have the correct e2m file. The closest one I have appears to be for the later models with egr and variable geometry turbo

It was worth a try I suppose!! (I don't know much about winols)

Oh and no I didn't use the obdII port, as it won't work. Only way is to hook direct to the ecm. Someone needs to use the e2m 3978875 and try it with a later model Ram than my 2004.5 to see if it will work!

Early engines Celect, C Plus, ISM QSB VP44 and QSK use E2M files, engines after Common Rail ISBe use ECFG files.
E2M files are still used on new engine builds as a template to be converted into ECFG format.

the diagram shown in 60-pin connector, pin 4 and pin 5 can communication, try connecting as J1708 and J1939 but could not communicate

Ok. This is what I know. On a 3rd gen Ram Cummins ('03-'07) you can connect with Calterm using the 3 pin weatherpack plug located in the OEM harness right near the ECM. It is a female plug with a male blanking plug. I use a Nexiq USB link to connect to this plug with an adaptor I made from a 9 pin Deutsch plug. It will only connect using J1939 protocol.

Now for the fun part. Mine is a 2004.5 year model. These ECM's require an E2M, not ECFG. It appears that they are quite sensitive to the E2M file used. If you don't have the correct E2M, it will not edit.

If ANYONE has an E2M called 11201314 or V11201314 then I would LOVE to have it!!

Below is an E2M which is for a 2003 Dodge Ram Cummins

This E2M suits a Dodge Ram Cummins later model than my 2004, but not sure what year. My best guess is '07-'10 with egr

If you have WinRar just click on the file and tree it out. Don't use the program to expand the archive. You use the program as if it was a text editor without the editing feature.
CreationDate=042607 April 26 2007.

In part of the header it says communication is J1939. Use the example posted above to view the E2M file.

Has anyone been able to find a viable source for E2M/ECFG files for 2003+ cummins ram ECU?
