I need some help guys.
I am looking for (Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005) and I couldn't get it anywhere for my DELL Dimension 5150 as my computer showing me at the start the following in a blue screen.

Systemroot\System32\config\system or its log or alternate it is corrupt, absent, or not writeable System.

I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks a Million.

If any of the DK Members has a set of recovery discs for this DELL I would buy it no problem.

Here's a link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545) to fix a corrupted registry. And check your PM to get the link to OEM XPMC recovery disks.

Before you do a restore, which is putting the lappy to factory defaults, DO A BACKUP! The restore cd should give you this option.

Remember, a restore will delete everything on your comp! You will loose everything, all your files and apps. Since this cd is not the original for your specific comp who knows what, if any, apps are on it.

You might be better off going to the same site, or just use google, and search for a Dell XPMCE disk and do a "repair" install and all your stuff will be there.

If you have the means, you can take your HD out of the lappy and hook it to another comp and at least backup your files.

Or, as per the M$ link, try and fix the corrupted registry.

Hi
All I am getting is a blue screen, can't get to safe mode or anything. Don't have any recovery disks. If I can find a way to get it to recover form the HDD that would be great. Unless you have a spare recovery disk. It's windows XP media centre edition.

Incidentally I bought this from a friend and it has an inboard graphics card plus a dvi card, wasn't sure if this was an upgrade or because the inboard card may have been faulty.

Hope you can help me

Thanks
