What's the deal with the EPG on blade 7000 ? (Sly)
Half the time its wrong...surely you don't have to update it every hour or so? Even then the 7 day part rarely shows anything after a day !
Am I doing something wrong ?

to get 7 day epg on 28e do the following :-
first scan in transponder 11778V 27500 , and look for the channels like 8010 or portal video 5 that have sly trailers and info
select that channel , then press ok and do an epg update and it will download the 7 day epg for you
then select the guide and alter the epg as you wish using the coloured buttons
always select that channel to do the download , when required , as it uses it for its epg information
Save both channels to your fav list in each group or whichever groups you watch the most and by the way you will lose the 7 day epg channel but you don't need it as these channels do the same thing.

What do you mean "scan in" ?
I am using the channel groups from blade media ...and each one has "7 day epg download " as the last channel in each group...is this not the same thing ?

you need to actually place the channel onto a portal channel ( a sly information channel that has the epg encoded onto it )
then press ok , and then do the epg update and wait until it has completed and you will have a 7 day epg available under GUIDE
that transponder you scan in is on 11778V 27500
I use portal channel 5 when I do it so have added that into all my favourite groups as the last one on the list, so from channel 1 in each group I press the up button to go to the bottom of the list , and then update the epg
its easy when you have done it a few times
I believe you are just doing it on any channel you like, and that is why you are failing as you are not using the channels containing the 7 day epg when you are updating
ps:- I posted all this info here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f11/blade-media-7000s-patched-firmware-05-01-2012-81x-249542/index3.html

Right.. I've replaced the "7 day epg channel " with 8010 and it seems to have worked !
Thanks
The "7 day..." never showed anything, just appears to be an empty channel ...no idea why it was added !

I have the blade online tv list. For my epg I just go to all satellites then find the 7 day epg channel click ok on it then press yellow for epg update. This works fine for me. Gives me a good 7 day epg across all my favourites.
The only thing I do find annoying is the programme information doesn't download on many of the channels.

Yea that's what I was doing......not sure if I have gained anything by swapping, as the synopses are still not 100%

STILL not working right...each group needs updating indivdually .
Even our cheap crappy freesat box can manage to present a working epg ..what's with the blade ? :-(

mate just leave it on one of those channels for a couple of mins after you've done an epg update, it should update most of the channels, it works fine with mine now.
At first i kept losing the epg after like half hour or hour but been working fine since.

Just leaving it on 8010 sorts most of it , even without "epg update" !
Thanks for that tip :-)
Does this need to be done every switch on ? Seems very clumsy...

I can get most of the EPG update through the 7day EPG update channel, Since i updated to the latest firmware... But the Synopsis doesn't work most programs, This can be very annoying, but maybe it will be fixed in a later update.

yes it does , as it doesnt "remember" it when the box is switched off as the box is "dead"
a freesat box and sky box have their own dedicated epg update channels and so do it "on the fly" from dedicated epg services
the blade has to "steal" this info from the portal channels that contain it , same as the tm5402 , and no the synopsis doesnt work correctly as mentioned above, but I hope they will fix that in the future so the synopsis match what you are reading about
hey, its not perfect , but its a better system than the other boxes out there, unless you buy a dreambox and go to the effort of downloading epg info from the internet using plugins
I think you expect far too much m8 ! live with it , as I can assure you the blade firmware was appalling 12 months ago and didnt even have this feature to even allow us to talk about it
think you need to take a chill pill as every post seems to be critical and generally about minor additions or inexperience or ignorance

I don't need to do it every time i switch my box on, It stores it to the hard drive when i switch the box off.
Every couple of days I may have to go on the portal channel and update a few gaps in the epg but this literally takes 30 seconds.
The synopsis would be great but not essential.
It would help to know what season and episode a programme is but you can always spend a couple of quid on a radio times which will supply this.

tvguide.co.uk will also supply the info too !

I go to the 7 Day EPG Channel, Select it, Then open up the channel list by pressing Ok once looking at a black screen.
This opens up all the channels, Then Hit yellow button to do the EPG update. I get the Full 7 Days.
Not sure If box has to be connected to internet or weather it matters but mine was and come through fine!
Using the Channel list downloaded from the Blade Plugin.
