Good day Members of DK

I have started to repair the hybrid TCM units which are found in the Audi multitronic gearboxes, thanks to the help and advice from the members of DK.

I was advised that I should solder the aluminum wires in the TCM with Alusol which is made for aluminum soldering.

The questions I have are as follows:

1. The Alusol does seem to hold well on the wires and after a couple of days comes loose again so do I have to use any sort of Flux when soldering with the alusol as it says it has 4 cores of flux?

2. What temp should I adjust my soldering iron to as I have it at 320 but am affraid to turn it up to high and cause damage?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi

I think you have got this problem sorted by now .

What temp did you find the best to set your soldering iron on to work with alusol??

I found that about 280 degrees works good and that you need to hold it a bit longer on the pads to suck up some heat ..

Regards

Pierre

Howzit Pierri, the way I have been doing it lately is I heat the pad up first with my hot air station and then use the soldering iron and alusol. That way I don't get dry joints in a month or two down the road.
