Id suggest installing another browser see if you still have problems.

Ninite Air Flash Flash IE Java NET Shockwave Installer.exe (http://www.mediafire.com/?6nc8lid6ixf8wwu)

The above link will download a program that will update all your web based addons (Java, Flash, Air)

The below link will do the same and install chrome and firefox as well.

If you want to choose yourself the link is: Ninite - Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once (http://ninite.com/)

If you keep the program it will update the options you picked each time you run it. I made link to those for you as it sounds like it would take you a long time to get to the site.

I fought this for a couple days until I found this simple fix. I am using XP, but similar options should be available in other Win versions. Go to:
Internet Explorer, Top tool bar,click Tools/Internet Options/Connections.
Move down to LAN SETTINGS
Uncheck "Use a proxy server........."
It worked for me - after several frustrating hours of virus scans, software upgrades, dumping temp files, etc.

Good luck.
