I'm still digging on this one.

Does anyone know where the ISN code is in the above BIN files ?

Is it in the MS41.0 ?

I don't have IMPA (it looks like it takes it from the ews?) I do have Autologic, ecu info shots below. I don't see ISN, do you?

I have tried reading directly with attached software but this has the TMS chip which is not covered... :(

There is no EWS available for this car it was crushed when the doner car was sent for scrap :(

It's now going into a kit car, the car is not local to me so im disadvantaged on option.

Help would be very appreciated, I will not share help so please come forward if you can help...

Does anyone have original EWS editor ?
Will this do it, Im happy to pay !

Maybe the ISN is not in this ECU?

I think its best to buy MS41 with 28f200 inside and make immo off for it. I have done a few and works perfectly. Or use INPA to read ISN.

Hello F4kk3r

Does INPA read ISN direct from the DME ?
It looks like it reads data from the ews.

Maybe a replacement with MS41 with 28f200 inside could be the answer.

I have found this post: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f178/bmw-ms41-immo-off-2-8l-246349/

Unless ISN can be read from what I have I will try this, it's not the same exact match by part number so I have no idea how it could work out, I'm trying to get this right first time

My head hurts :)

I haven't seen the ISN in the flash chip, and after reprogramming the ECU to a different version, I see the ISN remains the same.

You can not reflash this ECU to immo off, so a later version might be better.
You can also get another EWS box with key chip from another car, and then sync the EWS.

whit EWS EDITOR read ISN from EWS dump and whit EWStoemu write ISN to DME

THEN SYNC whit INPA

Hi Bram

How sure is this?

I ask because someone else has given me an ISN different to yours.

Thank you very much for this which ever way it goes :)

I have done this before, Used ECU with no EWS, so swap into a matching car, fit an EWS box from something scrapped, swap the key chips over, and hit Sync.

Engine starts, and original equipment put back.
Now you have another EWS+ECU kit to sell.

All you need to look out for are manual/auto EWS boxes.

Ews2emu cannot read/write to MS41
INPA can read ISN from MS41, not write.

Best way to find ISN, read it from MS41 with INPA

Or send yourself 12 04 00 16 at 9600 Baud 8,E,1 with terminal program. (I can calculate ISN for you)

Harder way? find ISN inside dump.
6338 or 18C2 or 015F (I think:)

When you have ISN, put this ISN inside old used EWS(with working key!!)
INPA can do this.

Then You have kitcar with working IMMO

All versions should, look under coding, and it is near the bottom of the list.

Exactly what was said Morette (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/members/223020-morette/) & Mage (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/members/112842-mage/)

I think nothing is difficult in any case, if we have the tools and knowledge are proportional.
Only a matter of time.

if anything will do it, INPA will, its the only decent tool for these older BMW's, none of the others seem to work aswell as INPA for this job, its not pretty software but it does work

Bram380: Read ISN dme, then write to new ews (use proper programmer)
No only with programmer: When Darwins INPA is working he also can put ISN inside EWS with INPA
(Works only when he uses EWS and working key)

Darwins: You can read ISN from MS41 without EWS connected.

Thank you.

I understood that it has to be read from DME and the written manualy. I was asking under which menu in EWS you can fill it in. I am quite new to INPA and I haven`t noticed any menu that gives you this opportunity.

It took me longer to set up INPA than it did read the ISN.

So it looks like we have an ISN of 2846 ????.

Just as a question is it normal for an error (image below) to show up during reading the coding on the bench ?
I'm thinking this shows up because there is no way for inpa to compare with ews etc.

I loaded the software to another pc and had the same result.

Thanks for all the help & input guys.....

No your ISN is 0B1E. You do not convert it to decimal.

gtmech

So is it hex or decimal written to an emulator ?

B1E, just leave it as INPA has read it, dont change or convert anything. Just go into EWS, Click Write ISN and enter B1E, job done, start the car

Thanks gtmech for EWS answer.

How does this work with the emulator though ?

The software suggests 4 digits are required.
I asked the supplier of the emulators they don't know.

If the car was in the back yard I would have a play..

Will it be

1: b1e

2 : 0b1e

3: 2846
