Hi guys,
My sterling touch immobiliser (Toad http://www.toadalarm.com/productdeta...p?ProductID=66 (http://www.toadalarm.com/productdetails.asp?ProductID=66)) has suddenly stopped reading my fob.
The led is blinking as normal but nothing happens when I touch the fob, there's 4.1v coming out the reader so I assume that's all working.
No pin and no spare key, I did chase it several times with no joy from prev owner - its how I got the car and been meaning to change it exactly for this reason.
I know theres a way of extracting the pin as southern car security offer the service but they are too far away.
Anyone got the installation instructions?
Should there be continuity on the two points of the immob fob?
Anyone know how to extract the pin because that would enable me to start the car at least?
Only option is to remove the immob unit GULP! - Assume this is relatively easy (hoping and praying lol)
Do I just trace the wires that have been spliced into and rejoin the cars original wires?
I dont even mind buying the same unit if it makes it easier but as its cat2 all the wires are black anyway.
Any suggestions guys, im really stuck now.

just follow the wires from immo unit, you will find were wires have been cut , possibly crank starter wire and fuel pump wire, normally under the steering wheel by ign swicth, just take wires off and connect original wires back, very easy. hope this helps.
dont forget to press thanks

Thanks radiosolutions - Much appreciated, the box is under the steering and I can see the immob loom taped up with cars original wiring, will unwrap it all and should hopefully be simple, fingers crossed. Thanks again for the response....

SORRY THIS IS A TOAD NOT COBRA MAKE IGNORE COBRA REFERENCE ON PIC!!!
Update and a thanks to those that replied:
To anyone with similiar problems if your key is not reading then its worth opening up the fob/key to check contacts:
I decided to open up the fob just in case and got a nice surprise, one of the pins wasn't contacting the chip so I re-soldered it and my beast fired up, well happy :-)
I have attached a pic to aid those doing searches with the same problem, twist the top out of the immob key/fob and check if the pins are conducting properly.
Just need to find a way of extracting the pin so I could program a spare.
Obd.tech - That manual would still be helpful cheers buddy.

hi only just seen this thread, yes always open u cobera key phob.
it's a one wire eeprom.
for what they cost, would suggest
1) Autowatch transponder system - has pinoverride - no touch key
2) Replace with cat 1 system.
3) Was it you that got stung before?

Disconect t’ battery, pull the fuse whatever, then drop t’ unit down slide the cover off
then inside you will see a white ring with 2 wires. Tgen a blue ring with 2x wires
start with flip tge board over you see to wires go to the same point - the two grounds
cut them and insulate tgen, battery on try starting as unit is designed fail safe
if not ONE PAIR AT A TIME join the white band wires tigether. Then the blue band wires together
then try starting
maje sure you put case back on tge box as if it shorts to the body possable change of burning wiring out

Do I leave all the other wires (earth etc) connected in the box?

It doesn’t really matter, personnel choices, if you leave them you know they insulted and safe
as long as the plastic box is secure .
do have the official information on a Tweet at work
(www.meat-head-motors.co.uk). But forgot to upload it, must try harder!

Couldnt find the box, lord knows where the bastids have tucked it away. In desperation I tool the fob apart and saw that one of the solds has broken. So hopefully soldering that up with fix it. Still want it gone long term tho

Follow the touch socket back will be within 12” radius at a guess

Nissan Cubic (import) not sure of year due to personalised plates. Dorset
Yes tried tracing the cable back but it seems to go up into the upper (and unreachable) parts of the dash
NOW FIXED !!!
(Still want it gone or a spare key done. dont have the pin)
