Hi everyone, this is my first post!
I have just started getting interested in satellite again. I dabbled many years ago when it was all analogue.

Could anyone explain how to insert keys in a softcam file? (ie what do the various fields mean?) Can these files be edited directly? (I am a linux user)

Also I have come across the phrase CCW (constant control word?)
Can anyone point me to a resource that explains what that is?

regards, calc

Hi
Use Notepad in Windows to edit, equiv of notepad in linux I presume.
CCW is another encryption, Try Search option on here or Google it.

you wont find much to edit now mate
most of the channels have changed encryptions
and there are no keys available, some providers
changed encryption to nagra 3 over 18 months ago
and there has never been posted for this encryption
and it could be a very long time before or even if we
get any of these channels back again, and ccw and biss
keys dont get used in a softcam for most receivers
they are entered by the remote control. as a linux user
you will be far better off for get the channels if you join
a C/S group

Thanks for the replies.
I was comparing the contents of different softcam files and noticed that there were CCW entries (think it was a dreambox version). I will look into getting a linux receiver when I know the subject better, looks like I am going to be FTA only for a little while...

thanks benny/9, I have the tm6900, so that is probably what I will go for.
I was just poking around in the softcam files of other receivers to see what the difference was, but of course that leads to more questions than answers...
