plus do i just download programs i need then sent to sd then run thru them on wii to softmod it. got games on hdd but struggling with how to chip wii. sd crd in pc ready to go as formatted it to fat32

You don't say which Wii system version your using.

When you run Modmii.exe from Windows it should check as your using the latest version, if not it will ask if you want to download it, click Yes 6.0.3.

There is an option in Modmii for a fresh install but I'm not sure how this enables you to softmod without an original game disc though if you using 4.3 it could use LetterBomb.

Modmii saves all file need in the COPY_TO_SD sub folder. Just add these to the SD card in the correct folders else it won't work.

If its 4.3 then you can use LetterBomb (http://hackmii.com/2011/08/letterbomb/) straight off that will only softmod it.

Now you must softmod it using all 3 options shown.

1. Install Homebrew.
2. Install Bootmii in IOS.
3. Prepare SD card - this will make a [bootmii] folder on the SD card so you can do a NAND backup straight after softmodding.

Then you just have to install PriiLoader 0.7 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/priiloader-v0-7-1603/) to block online and disc updates.

Then you just decided which USB Loader you want to use and search for those threads. You may as well try all 3 to find which you like the best. I would recommend USB Loader GX and install a forwarder channel to the Wii menu.

Leave the SD card formatted FAT32 at all times. You don't have to keep on formatting it everytime just delete all files and folders. Oh it must be a 2GB SD card not SDHC while your softmodding.

it is a micro sd card and a sandisk microsd/transflash adapter.

its brand new i also hav a 4gb micro sdhc sandisc

I've never had any problem formatting an SD card with WinXP, Vista or Win7 or adding files.

Get rid of the transflash adapter thats something else to interfere.

You either take advise of here from people that know the pitfalls or you please yourself its up to you?

The wii does not like micro sd cards in an adaptor. Better off to get a 2gb sd card not sdhc

The adaptor allows you to use a micro card in the SD slot what I'm saying is get rid of the adaptor and fit a 2GB SD card directly this will cut out any interference in connection.

The colour doesn't really matter so long as its a full size 2GB SD card.

No you run modmii.exe from Windows and that creates a COPY_TO_SD sub folder with everything you need to copy to the SD card.

Follow the instructions on modmii if you can't follow them you really shouldn't be trying to softmod anything, they very simple just read then properly. If you can't follow those instructions you won't be able to follow ours

you need to do a lot more than type i agree.
after typing i agree you need to select "w" for wizard then select virgin or first time install then answer the questions i asks you when the questions are all answered it will then download your files and create the copy to sd folder

If you don't want type letters\numbers for diiferent options run ModMiiSkin.exe and click the different option buttons to select what you want.

Oh you still have to type I Agree when it starts up its not case sensitive.

the copy to sd card folder will have a tutorial in it open it on your pc and follow it

try reformatting the sd card then open up the copy to sd card folder and copy the contents only to the card instead of the whole folder. if your still getting errors try installing the homebrew channel from here LetterBomb (http://please.hackmii.com/) read the guide for how to use it

This thread has moved on 4 pages and all thats been talked about is the right SD card and ModMii.

Sorry casper if you want your Wii softmodding then because your using a 4.3E just use LetterBomb (http://hackmii.com/2011/08/letterbomb/) then all you have to do is do a NAND backup (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/4-3-mod-157379/index16.html) and install PriiLaoder 0.7 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/priiloader-v0-7-1603/). Install d2x v7 Fnal (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/d2x-v7-final-1913/) and your there.

He can't help it he's a rangers fan and in distress lol.....It seems as though the sd card isn't being read by the wii keith so he can't even start the softmod. He is going to try either the sd in another wii or another sd in his wii to determine if it's the card reader that's ~~~~ed or the new card from flee bay

Yes PriiLoader uses IOS58 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/ios58-64v6175-1874/) install that one. Read the top of the screen when you run PriiLoader.

So you've softmodded but are you using 4.3, IOS58 is installed with 4.3?

If you watch the PriiLoader tutorials on YouTube you ignore the messages shown.

The settings file is hacks.ini which can be on the SD card root and in the apps\priiloader folder.

You don't need a gamecube controller just use the buttons NAND backup (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f16/4-3-mod-157379/index16.html)

Just follow the modmii tutorial and don't try to run before you can walk, remember more haste less speed, if you try to rush this you will make a mistake and won't know where you've went wrong then will try to fix it make another mistake and before you know it your wii is bricked, remember you only have bootmii as an ios, so a working priiloader and nand backup are essential

Yes use wiibackup manager to transfer games and allow it to create a wbfs folder

No need to format gx reads from a fat 32 drive when you transfer a game with wiibackup manager it scrubs the iso and converts it to wbfs format making it smaller than 4 gb. As with the rest I can't really help you as you have not really followed any guide from start to finish but chosen to do things in fits and starts so I have no idea what files or folders you have on sd or what ios and cios have been installed. You will need to post a syscheck so I can see what you have and try to work out what guide you are closest to before we can sort anything out.

Nobody is getting hacked off mate. The problem we have is there is lots of different methods that all have the same end result. No need to start from the beginning just post the syscheck file as I asked and we can sort it out.

So you have syscheck file in your apps folder which you launch from hbc, yes. It then gives you white screen asking to test all ios, you then press "a" this will test all ios and put a csv file on your sd. You then put the sd in the pc and right click on the csv file and select open with "wordpad" not "notepad". Save that file to pc then post it in this thread. If you cannot generate this file then you need to go back to modmii and get yourself a full tutorial and follow the guide word for word from after the hbc step as you alway have hbc, if you have already installed priiloader you can skip that bit as well.

how can i fix it? can i get program and reinstall the usb loader or something. and how can i play the games the easyest way as i already have iso files but when i have tryd to ad then to my hard drive they wont go on unless they are wbfs.
i then formated the file to wbfs and still cant play.

syscheck is fine mate and you haven't went wrong anywhere with the softmod it can only be your file structure that's wrong...Save any files you need from the sd card to the pc then farmat the sd card to either fat or fat 32, the extract this file Digital Kaos - Downloads - Usbloader gx 2.3 r1128 and d2x v7 with mmm 13.4 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/usbloader-gx-2-3-r1128-d2x-v7-mmm-13-4-1978/) straight onto the newly formatted sd card. Put the sd back into the wii then click on the gx channel...You must have a game on the hdd for it to be recognised use this Digital Kaos - Downloads - Wii backup manager 0.4.0 build 65 (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/wii/16/wii-backup-manager-0-4-0-build-65-1853/) run it on the pc then click on the drive 1 tab and select the hdd you want to use for games then click on te file tab and go to wherever you have a game iso stored on the pc and select the game then click transfer while still on the file tab with the iso selected. from the dropdown select drive 1 and let it transfer plug the hdd into the wii remember it must go into usb port "0" which is the one nearest the outside edge of the console. Switch on the hdd then click on the gx channel this should bring up your game on the loader screen.

i have wiped my sd card. when i ran the modmii i said in he bit bout external hdd i was going to do it fat 32 is that mabe a prob to as tryn wbfs to get iso on hdd
when i run gx it starts to go my hard drive starts then goes back, to start menu

That is not a problem just follow these instructions. The file I told you to extract to the sd card has the gx forwarder on it. Put the sd in the wii and start hbc launch Multi Mod Manager (MMM) then at teh bottom of the list you will see reload to a different ios select this then choose 249 from the list. Once it reloads go to wad manager and select gx forwarder and press "a" to install it, this will put the correct gx forwarder on the main wii screen. I told you to use wiibackup manager in the earlier post becasue this will transfer any iso to any format of hard drive converting the iso to a .wbfs file (that the wii can read) as it goes. plug the hdd into the correct port then launch gx from the forwarder...job done......you need to leave the sd card in the wii

I don't see why the hell you have to run GX through MMM thats what a Forwarder is for. Won't it run from HBC as well?

For some reason you don't have the .dol file in the correct place on the sd which is why gx is not showing up in hbc, or it is not being recognised. Did you extract that file I linked you too directly onto the sd or did you extract onto the pc then copy and paste it

You didn't follow my instructions then. What I told you to do was format the sd card and extract the file directly onto the blank sd, that's why it won't run from the forwarder, the instruction text that I included in the file also states extract to blank sd card.
Edit...I see you edited your post while I was replying. That is correct just format the card. Everything you need to run the hdd is on that file.

Its like banging your head agains a brick wall when you tell users whats needed and where to put it.

The Forwarder is like a Windows short-cut it looks for boot.dol in apps\usbloader_gx if it can't find it then it will go back to the Wii menu.

If boot.dol isn't there I can't see how MMM will run it.
