I have read the thread bout flashing the 7020, but cannot get to first base.

I inserted a 1Gb SanDisk CF card and the machine just hangs on boot. Power off needed.

I then tried a 2Gb Ultimate CF card. The machine recognises it as 1.1Gb and says it cannot read the card.
Format also fails.

The card is formatted already in Linux ext2.
What file system should I be using??

thanks

I found FlashWizard 6.3 and formatted the 2Gb CF card.
Why on earth did I need an external utility for a simple matter like formatting??
The m/c still says it is only 1.1Gb????

Then installed Gemini 4.5 under a dual boot.

Is Gemini the best, or should I look at others??
I particulary want to get the 2 Smartcard slots working.

I have copied CCCam to the \usr folder on the CF card but have no idea how to activate it.
Can any one help me??

Thanks

I now have the two cards, Irdeto and Viaccess working on my 7020Si

The first thing is to load Pli Jade. I have a multiboot at present.
This is the only image that gives a menu option for Softcam
all the others only support CA.

In the Setup/Software Managment select the option to download the latest Menu.

On the new menu select Downloads and then Softcams and Cardservers.
There are lots of softcams to choose from, but you can have many installed at the same time. I tried several before I found one that worked for me

scam was the one that worked.

Select the channel you want to decrypt.
Enter setup and Softcam setup

On each of the pull down menus select the softcam that you want.
On the last for Cardserver leave it as none.
Save and restart cam and with luck you will be in business.

You only need to select the card with one channel in the bouquet, the receiver will automatically recognise the others.

There are some useful screen shots at the PLi site under Wiki - E1softcam. That was got me on the track, plus the help and encouragement from members here.
