Mercedes E290TD engine won't start

Mercedes E290TD - W210 - 1998

After battery change, engine won't start.

Turn key in ignition to start engine, engine cranks OK, but no start. Red & green LED's in rear view mirror flash alternately.

Anyone have any ideas as to what the fault is & how to cure it?

Have you tried locking and unlocking the drivers door with the key rather than the remote? Worked for me once. . .

replace ,..or check the soldering points into relay module K40/4

you could find it in front of the passenger,under black plastic cover,..or by starfinder!

@weryo: I have checked soldering points of K40 relay, they looks OK, I solder them anyway... but engine still won't start.

Any other idea?

then replace the key batteries and synchronise it again!
and do a regular diagnosis by stardiagnosis,..pointing on drive authorisation menu and fbs system

and please check again the production year of the car,...it seems to be up to 1997,..with infrared fob key.
its very important to be able to receive the right answer or help,....or maybe I am wrong?

I don't have stardiagnosis. :(
First registration is 1998 (so production year can be 1997).
I checked both infrared fob keys (one has only 3 months old batteries).
What is the procedure to synchronise key again?

you have first to check Start relay on the Left of engine then if relay is good and car won't crank virginize the dump of the ECU and use stardiagnisis to teach the drive authorization
if you cannot virginize it please read it and post it here we will help you

I think the problem with the fuel valve on the fuel pump. The valve is on the fuel pump it enters the tube from the fuel filter and connect the wires. It is necessary to remove the valve (be careful), then make it always open and put in place. The car will start up, indicator light will go out in the mirror after 30 seconds.

If they enter "some code" over diagnostic device, car can start.
They have said, that this is immo module problem and need to be replaced.
Anyone expired same problem?

Programming ECU+Immo Box and after that Interlocking by DAS and will work with no problem. But is not so easy.

Now they think, that is faulty ENGINE CONTROL UNIT Mercedes-Benz A 018-545-30-32, that will cost about 2000EUR; (more than car is worth) ?!

Can I buy used one from Ebay? There are some for about 180EUR :)

I don't have STAR diagnostics.

So the question is, will car start If I change set with ECU+immo with keys from another car? Or I still need STAR diagnostics?
