Good day members of DK

I have a Audi TT 2004 model in my shop and the dash works perfect but my customer wants the pixels in the centre info display of the cluster repaired. The problem with it is every 3rd or 4th line of the pixels is missing.

Is there a repair for this and have any members managed to repair them?

U will need a new LCD with ribbon, I fixed an Audi A4 this way. The LCD comes with new ribbon from eBay. The old ribbon, where it connects to the pcb, desolder, then put new ribbon and solder. Easy but delicate job

You can also solder with the hot air but will need soldering paste instead of soldering wire.

Regardless of the method that you choose, remember to tin -cover the pins of the ribbon- with solder before you start to solder it to the board, This will help you a lot with the soldering process.

As always use lots of flux to prevent bridges and if you get one use soldering wick to get rid of it.

Happy soldering, this job is always an interesting one on the first try.
