hi all my kids have been on my computer and deleted some files they have deleted via platform device manager do i need this????? i have been on windows update but windows 7 update is down is there anyway i can download this file thanks for looking

Yes you need it, it is the chipset drivers which control the VIA hardware in your comp.

You can download from your comp manufacturers website or from VIA (http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp).

What kind of comp is it and what model? Dell optiplex 380, HP such and such etc.........

If not a brand name you could take the cover off and try and see what model the motherboard is.

Or, just use PC wizard (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html). The .zip version doesn't require installation.
