I have been doing cluster reprogramming for a couple years now and I just learned that reprogramming the IMMO is somewhat similar. So I decided to play around and see if I could clone the IMMO from one ECU and put it on another thus allowing me to use an ECU that did not come with my vehicle.
I'm working with two 2007 Subaru STi's. As far as I know the STi has the following components necessary for IMMO...
- IMMO Key
- Antenna (inside key cylinder)
- IMMO Box (under driver kick panel)
- Engine ECU (which is also linked to IMMO Box)
I was told that the 07 STi has it's IMMO stored on a 93Cxx chip just as most odometer mileage's are stored on. So basically what I'm trying to do is READ the IMMO data (stored on 93Cxx chip) off one ECU and then program that data onto the other ECU.
Now the problem is that I don't know which IC chip the IMMO is stored on. On the top of the ECU board there is IC601 which is the only 4 pin SOIC, however on the bottom of the ECU there are 4 93Cxx chips. I tried to pull the data off the chip on the top of the board but didn't have any success as it just kept reading an empty buffer. So basically I'm wondering if anyone has any idea which chip carries the IMMO data. I have included pics of the ECU as well as the IMMO Box board..
