Hi all,
I have a softmodded wii with everything working fine with the following ios:
IOS245[55] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS246[53] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS247[37] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS248[56] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS249[38] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug ES Identify NAND Access
IOS250[57] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS251[58] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug NAND Access USB 2.0

the latest cios pack has all the same slots(245 -251) but with different bases:
IOS245[37]-v7.wad, IOS246[38]-v7.wad, I,OS247[53]-v7.wad etc.
Can someone explain what the difference is between a 245 base 55 and a 245 base 37 and whether it's worth the risk (some games mightn't play etc.) of updating.

Please don't just say "If it ain't broke..". I'd just like to know a bit more about the whole Wii system. Thanks in advance...

You have used mauifrog's guide to softmod which is why you have this cios setup....It is slightly different because it works in this way....The cios number is really irrelevant and is only a carrier for the base in brackets which corresponds to the original wii ios used to run the game.....for example you have ios248 [56] and 90% of games use the original wii ios of [56] to load mic games tend to use [38] which is your 249 and all call of duty uses [57] which is your ios250 . The other ios setup which you are asking about is the more conventional cios setup and so most of our games load from ios 249 [56] and so on. In short the only difference is that you may get confused when trying to get info with troublsome games as instead of being told the base number it uses most people just talk about the cios number which will be different for you..Hope this answers your question and gives you a little more insight into how the system works. Any other questions just shout up and we will answer them best we can...

Thanks Happy_Highlander - it's starting to sink in ...slowly ! So thats the reason I had to switch COD to 250[57] from the default 249[38].
So the base thing is the important bit, and once I have all bases - 37,38,53,55,56,57,58,60 covered (bad pun I know) it should only be a matter of trial and error to find which base a troublesome game will run off ?
Also if I do update (Mauifrogs update is the same as the one here) will that affect the game saves / Miis that are on the wii at present ?
Thanks for your prompt reply and your patience,

Best Regards,

No it won't effect anything and as far as guessing game ios try this tip......If you use wii backup manager to load the games, you will have screen with the games list, scroll all the way across to the right hand side and you will see it shows you the original ios used top run the game (your base) if it doesn't state 57 or 37 as the original ios then the chances are it will run on your default.....By the way what loader are using with a base of 38 as default......as that is traditionally a hermes cios base and is usually found in cios 222, for the likes of uloader.

Hi H_H,
Thanks for the Wii back-up manager tip -that'll make it easier if I have problems.
this is from my syscheck:
IOS222[38] (rev 4 Info: v0.1): Trucha Bug ES Identify NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS223[38] (rev 4 Info: v0.1): Trucha Bug ES Identify NAND Access USB 2.0
IOS249[38] (rev 21007 Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug ES Identify NAND Access

As you can see it seems I have 3 IOS running on base[38] - is this possible or does the Wii/game pick which one it needs from the available ones ?

I'm using USB Loader GX 2.3 now but I think my Wiiflow is using 249 as default, thereby using base 38 as default ? I cant get Wiiflow or CFG working to my satisfaction but GX is brilliant. Loads all games so far, easiest to use etc. Also works off multiple partitions at the same time so I cant fault it.

The default IOS for all 3 USB Loaders is 249 you have to change which IOS you want the game to use in each game settings. GX and GFG change easliy enough you just type in the number its WiiFlow that doesn't show any other useful IOS numbers you can only select from the list.

All my 164 games work with the default 249 no problem there is only COD MW3 I have to change to 250.

but as earlier noted is your 249[56] different to my 249[38] ? According to H_H whichever base the cios is using is important as well ?

The default ios for all three loaders is not 249, it is whatever version of loader you instal. There are a few versions of gx each using a different ios a default depending on your cios setup. You generally install which ever version is relevant to your most used cios, in the case of dk files I always supply the 249 version of gx as this is the cios with a 56 base in the standard cios setup that I recommend.

All my USB Loader GX, CFG USB Loader and WiiFlow are 249 in older versions and the newest.

That is correct it is only the base that is important the cios is just a container, and by the way base 38 is the hermes default which gx can use so that is why 249 still works with most of your games. The reason you are having trouble with the other loaders is because you have a mismatch cios setup, bits are hermes and bits are waninkoko. If you look in the downloads section you find a file I uploaded a while back called full cios pack (can't link from tapatalk sorry) it had the best of both worlds with the full hermes cios but with rodries mod on 222 & 224 and the standard d2x v7 final from 245 to 251, the rodries mod makes them compatible with more loaders, I am testing d2x v8 at the minute and they are a huge improvement for emulated nand on gx but even with enhanced stealth tin tin still won't work properly, so I won't upload them yet unless requested, there is not really enough benefit for everybody and it may just confuse matters.

All my USB Loader GX, CFG USB Loader and WiiFlow are 249 in older versions and the newest.

Like I said 249 has always been the most common but if you install uloader for example the default ios is 222.

I've never use Uloader as its old.
