Happy belated new year to everyone,

What can we expect in 2009? Starting with Nagra3 interrupting everyone’s Television viewing already Satellite and Cable it not starting off to be a very good one, and by the sounds of it’s very unlikely we will ever see Nagra 3 open in the foreseeable future and is distant to be as strong as Uncle Rupert’s N*S, with Nagravision using different ROMs for each service provide makes it even harder to be hacked.

This leads me onto the subject of receivers, for the past number of years many different receivers of all types have been used in this hobby for educational purposes but now the day has come for most of them, as they are simply not fast or advanced enough to run even official cards such as Technomate not been compatible with Nagra 3 cards, this also goes for a lot of other receivers on the market, this does not bode well for any future EMU/Key hacks of Nagra 3 if they can’t even run the official cards.

Cable television this year will also be upgraded to Nagra 3 with Virgin Media to adopt the new Encryption, As will all close network services such as cable there is always a workaround and in the past has been one of the easiest mediums to crack, and I would see this as been no difference in this case as long as you buy the basic package there is always a way of opening all channels when it comes to cable television.

Sky Digital this year are due to release a new card it down to their contract with N*S stating a card change every five years, the only bad news to this is there counter measures on Card sharing, Sky see Card sharing as a treat and wish to deal with it by using probably a newer faster Rom , meaning a faster code refresh rate, so by the time the code is emulated down the internet it’s too late for the sharing receiver to get and process the codes.

And finally as there is little or no movement on any other Encryption been opened! this year does not look so good with the last open platform Digitv soon to converts over to Nagra 3 sometime in March / April, I’m afraid Blank screen for most of us, of course Duolabs are still buying codes to open other services with their CAS units but do we really want to be paying a indirect subscription for services they open, if less people bought them the more codes and EMU might we have right now?

Remember when your screen goes blank later in the year don’t turn you back on guys and the websites that have helped you in the past, we are a community of television enthusiasts and who knows how thing will turn out in the future.
