How do i unlock a newer BMW?
i had a customer the other day locked out a 2004 BMW 3 series and we couldn't get it open.
my friend told me that you need to depress the button in the center console and then pull the handle but no luck,
i was told there was another locksmith there earlier and he failed to open it.
Thanks!:handkiss:

3 series door lock come out held in by a Allen on edge of door. Remove it close door with a screwdriver and then open it, now you have power threw out the car. If keys lock in trunk or boot release will work, because you trick the system.

You need to push button on console, then step two is to pull the Inside door handle TWICE. One time will not open it, opens on the second time. If this does not work, agree with the Lishi solution- but practice- these Bmw locks are not that easy, even with the right tool!:trytofly:

This will only work for USA model , because the rest of the world bmw dont program escape mode .

Wow! What do you do in an emergency when power goes down like electrical fire, and you are on the inside on non-USA model? Toasted driver? BMW windows aren't that easy to break without a tool.:stupid:

if the vehicle ever crash all lock should open , or pull the emergency back door cord ,

or keep a spare spark plug , that should break the glass easy .

I have tried these with the lishi and they are an absolute pig. You just cant feel any of the wafers click. Any suggestions as these are the cars i struggle most with.

yes its true , its not an easy task.

first i pick in the lock direction , then use a plug spinner to unlock , this is the only method that work for me .

Make an investment in a BMW door lock to practice with. Not so available at junkyards, but Ebay has used ones for sale 20-50 dollars from time to time. I got my last one for 16 bucks. Put it in a vice and practice, practice ,practice. Like anything, it takes a while to get the feel for the type of lock.

this is a post of mine, it has a lishi pick reference that i made. take a look and you will see that some locks can be picked easier in certain directions, and some have a pick sequence that they prefer. the most important thing to renember is that you must flush the lock with wd40 to get the wafers moving as most people only use the central locking remote, the locks are often full of dirt, use plenty of dw40 and a old towel to stop it dripping down the paint work.

Ok, so here we are again by a 2002 bmw x5.
The customer has a key in his hand and it will not unlock the door.
So obviously a lishi tool will not work, it seems like the car went in to a total lockdown mode.
As we try with the rods to press the button and pull on the lever twice the alarm goes off and the car is still locked. Now what???

why will lishi not work, is it the key that has problem or lock. does the key rotate in lock, if it does then the problem is with the lock, if it does not problem could be key which means lishi will work. in case it is the lock that has problem what i usually do is use a long reach tool through drivers door and pull handle on passenger door twice, some models have the emergency unlock feature that require you to press the central locking unlock button and keep it pressed while you pull the handle. but i have a question , 2002 x5 has central locking on key fob, what is wrong with it?
also on alot of cars if you pop the bonnet and use a good resource like autodata you can locate the relay for power windows and give direct power to the window system, then press window button on door and you have access. obviously this only applies to cars where the fuses and relays are located under the bonnet.

Thank you!
the problem seem with the lock, the key would turn but will not unlock at all. this is the third time this happened to me, firs was a 04 BMW 3 series the second was a 05 Range rover and now this 02 BMW X5.
these people call every locksmith in town and every one says they can get it but no one can!!
how would i get under the hood? maybe if we release the hood lock with the long reach??
i haven't thought about that...
but what to do once the hood is open?
Also am i the only one that gets these bmw's that will not open at all???
it seems like the car goes in to anti theft mode and there's only one way in and that's through a window.

i had an x3 with the same problem last year, the big difference was that there was a baby locked in the car and it was a very hot day. try the long reach tool like i did, through drivers door to passenger door handle, pull handle once then have some one pull the passenger door from the outside like i did and pull the handle a second time, if it has the emergency system like the american versions have then you must press the unlock button and keep it pressed before pulling the handle.

some more advice, on the end of my rods i wind rubber volcunizer tape to help grip the door handle, it may be the case that you are simply not pulling the handle back enougth

just checked in autodata it says that there are two relays in load area 1 [i assume that this is under the bonnet] they release the boot, research to make sure but logicaly you could apply external power into both relays to unlock the boot and get into the car
