I have a 500gb hard drive out of a virgin box, but when I connect it to my desktop using external caddy, the computer does not find it, is there a way for it tobe found.
Thanks for any replies.

You have to reformat it. If you have w7 or vista go to disc management, delete the volume then create a new simple volume then quick format it using ntfs file system.
