Hi all i have a few questions regarding satellite,as i am new to this i need a few things explained.Having used starview in the past on cable,and still with virmin,i was thinking of changing .I live in a flat with a fixed shared dish,so not sure what my options are regarding box, channels etc.I presume i need an linux based boxwith this dish,any ideas what to go for,and what channels will i be able to recieve,and will they all be in foreign?Sorry about the long question but i am a bit confused what to expect from sat..thanks Gaz

you will receive the channels on the satellite the dish is pointed at, which is probably 28.2 east and so you will receive freesat
you dont receive "foreign channels" on that satellite

any other channels on there needs a subscription of some sort ;)

Does it only come through when connected to a 3D tv ?

All the 3D channels natively show a picture which is side by side on a normal TV this is what it looks like

When used with the correct setting on a 3D TV the images are merged and so show the 3D effect

Ah ok bud, so 1 on 28.2
But other sats have more 3D channels, is this correct ?so it would be another sub, or am I wrong ?

always is m8 , always is

I suppose you may find the odd test channel in 3d, or some non-descript channel , but anything interesting tends to be scrambled, especially something new like HD or 3D , no idea what all the fuss is about myself !! its all hogwash and hype to sell new tv,s, not even on the CEBIT radar this year

~~~~ 3D , ~~~~ wearing 3D glasses and ~~~~ the headaches that go with them too
stick to HD and you will be fine
