The best hd receiver is is 6900 and the best sd receiver is 5400usb..however you will need a cam or the m2card to be making the most of your equipment....

Cheapest technomate at the moment is the 5200d usb super all you have to do with this is patch it with latest patch and put new softcam keys on it and you be on your way but there is no box that will unlock the normal sky package!! As you probally have. you will be able to get a few channels that are encrypted, and 1.0w at the moment is the hottest. You will also need at least a 80cm dish to pick up some satellites and best thing to get is to get it motorised a full system on ebay as i have seen is about ?170 for a full technomate motorised system.

in actual fact the cheapest tm is the 3100 but if u want to buy a receiver buy 1 with a cam slot for the dark days which lay ahead

for me if your going to get into satellite then a 90cm or 1mtr dish
on a motorised system is a must to get the best of whats available
plus if you have a HD tv then you need a HD sat receiver to
get even more channels open than the SD receivers will open
the choice of receiver depends on how good you are at programming
and setting up via the computer and on the net for card sharing, this
is not cheap or easy to set up if your new to sat tv it can be a steap
learning curve but if you want to do it very cheap and you are'nt
bothered about HD chns there are still tm 1500 receivers at a very
cheap price and these work with all cards and cams plus you can use
your sky card in it to watch the chns your paying for without changing
receivers, plus technomates are very easy to program patch load softcams
and are a good quality receiver
