Recently browsed websites that are aimed at nintendo ds games. Since then been pestered with pop ups. Is there a programme which can stop this.

Currently use AVG for protection.:marchmellow:

Try installing the google toolbar.

Or a more extensive AV such as ZoneAlarm or Avast.

I would also install and run SpyBot Search and Destroy or Ad-awware!

Try FireFox 3 and Add Block Plus plug in. Should see you free of a fairly large number of pop-ups/pop-unders.

Also, as I like to see both sides, bare in mind a lot of places will be useing the adverts to help fund the hosting prices. So if you get something, consider letting the adverts annoy you for a bit to help pay them back.

If you don't run FireFox then why not ? :P and check Cnets pop-up blocker list (http://www.download.com/windows/popup-blocker-software/3150-7786_4-0.html). Should have something you can use.

Ohhh and if you get regular Pop-ups even through normal browsing, could be you have some malware on ya system. Try something like Malware Bytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) or Spybot Search n Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/) (many more out there.) Both very good, install them both and let both check out your system.

spybot is old and worn, it also freezes, try advanced system care also known as 10bit, or ccleaner, zone alarm firewall with pop up blocker is free and does not take up much resorces, firefox is a resorce hogger unless you have a lot of space forget it, also forget windows explorer it is targeted 2 often, malware bytes and spyblaster download and install, ie-spyad is another must have, also the latest windows updates is another must have, you can only run 1 firewall but muntible anti spyware.

Currently use AVG for protection.:marchmellow:try avast as your resident scanner its very good also download malwarebytes-anti malware update it and run it,ive had probs a few times with pop ups it cured it every time and both are free, also i dont think a pop up blocker will cure it im sure its a virus you have, and i dont think avg is very good at all.there is also a-squared free, spyware terminator both free and very good.
