Ok, some of you may know I am in the middle of moving house.

I started this application at the end of January, had my mortgage offer and all the searches done, and last week Tuesday I went to my solicitor and signed the papers. He said he would make the request for my money and ask the vendor for an agreed moving date.

I get a letter on Wednesday from my solicitor saying that the vendor conveyancer has stated that the vendor has not had a mortgage offer yet.

Of course I am on the phone straight away to the estate agent asking what the hell is going on? To which I get the response that there was an issue with some ID but it should be sorted within 48 hours. I said I would ring back friday for an update.

I rang today, to get told that the issue with the ID is sorted, so they are just waiting on the searches from the vendors house purchase. I start to lose my cool a bit and say, why the hell was this not sorted at the same time as my searches and mortgage applications 6 weeks ago, as it sounds like they have only just started their searches etc.

Is this normal in the house buying process? I ask as I have never bought and sold in a chain before.

Similar thing happened to me, they kept moving my move in date and the people still had stuff in the garage for two weeks after I moved in, they all had at lleast 6 weeks to get moved out, and the bank had problems at the last minute, so had to wait an extra 2 weeks from when I should have moved in

Well I am in double jeopardy at the moment, as my current landlord has sold the house and issued me with 28 days notice.
I have passed this info onto estate agant saying I want to exchange in the next two weeks or will have to cut my losses and rent again.

Cant be with nowhere to live!

i would take the step of setting up temporary accomodation m8,these people do not rush and although you would think the fact they are paid by you to do a job they see it differently.

speed is not paramount to these people, moved house 3 times now and never had 1 go smoothly, good luck

me personally a would be TELLING them a date when you need to complete by or you are pulling out, maybe get them a move on, they can always rent as long as there house is sold

Thats pretty much the stance taken, got to be out by the end of April or deal is off. Not heard anything yet! Fingers crossed

I hope not but it looks like the seller may have changed his mind and he would want to stop the sale.

I hope the deal goes in your favour, best of luck mate.

Update:

Estate Agent says that Natwest have just completed the survey, so mortgage offer should be out tomorrow.

They also said that Natwest always leave the survey until last.

All in all it sounds to me that either the vendor was struggling to get a mortgage and has had to go elsewhere, or they were hanging on for a better offer that never materialised.
