Something different PIC12F629

I am trying to read a PIC12F629 without succes. UPA reads only FF3F on adress 4000. The rest is zero. Do I need another programmer?

My girl has a IPL machine with expensive lamps, it can only flash 10000 times then she needs to buy another 400 pounds lamp. But the lamp can realy handle 20000 flashes, I try to read the 12F629 and increase the remaining ''flashes''.

I think the chip has a internal oscillator I need the right value (calibration) on adress 3FF (but there isn't a value)?

Any help?

Usually microchip pic show zeroes when they are locked but i suggest you try another programmer. JDM programer with winpic800. works 100%

Thanks I think it is locked like you said, I read all 0000000.

I never had success with PIC+UPA while ATMEL+UPA work fine.

better choice send to efichip company for reflash multi diag, i'l try myself change sn but without success,efichip do it well,my multi..work fine with new software.

can be "housecracked" by powerglitch or powerstress, in fact I only saw one time how a couple of guys dumped a 16Fxx pic

-external power supply (adjustable) to the programmer
-pic programmer

one guy start to move continuosly voltaje from 0 to 12v, the other one just pressing read at the programer randomly,

at some time for any reason codeprotection bits are "glitched", then pic can be readed,

they took about 4 hours,

smartcards like schumblerger (java) are protected against peaks to prevent glitch,

by the way, name the lamp just in case I found something related that could help ;)

Sadly can't find it, but on his site 'some time ago' he had a programme
to annoy cats with, told you how to write the programme etc etc.

Basically a sound generator, woth emailing him

2) JUST a thought. Can you 1/2 the value of the crysatl next to processer?

3) Is this chip in the bulb it's self?

Can you write protect it?
