I am reading about firmware but as a newbie have no idea what it is or does ?

I have on order hd 7000. is this something i need ?

the firmware you put on your box stops you having to enter keys to get the premium channels ,so once you flash your box with the new firmware you will get all your channels f.o.c,but dont tell anyone lollollollollollolL.O.L.
