Have you the enigma PDF with two legs lifted from micro?

captain crackers

When you have the dump, the kms. are at 17C, 17D and 17F. Change kms. to hex and edit. Leave 17E as it is and put a zero in front of the hex if you only have 5 figures, ie. 12ABC write as 012ABC. there is no need to change the crystal with UPA but lift the pins as with the DP3. Arthur.

By the way, yours is the version not on Enigma! Arthur.

I doing the same model at the moment. UPA is great for reading this MCU. I use this calculating for the BCU and now the screen is blinking..
Car type: Land Rover Discovery 2 (BCU) - 68HC11PH8
The mileage is stored in the next lines:
0170: xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx 01 86 xx A0
where the next bytes:
String #1 = 01 86
String #2 = A0
But in my dump string 2 is at 1B0
Any idea?

Remove both Dash and BCU. Program the dash and refit it (do not refit the BCU at this stage). Switch on the ignition but do not try to start the car. Note down the exact kilometers displayed and program the BCU with the same kilometers as the dash. (If it is a mph dash hold the trip button to change to kms). Refit the BCU. This will stop the flashing display. If the car is a British ex-police vehicle with a calibrated dash, it will not change to kms. and will need a normal mph dump before it can be done. To change back from kms. to mph, hold the trip button until the display changes. Arthur.

dashtech, I did explain how to calculate it but here it is. Arthur.

First thing to do when you get one of these cars with the later BCU (maskset 0H30R, HC11PH8), is to put away all your dealer tools and get your UPA out. There is a long history of dealer tools killing this MCU. Arthur.

Is there a upa manual or pdf's for the correct connection points? Just unpacked my upa and going to use it for the first time.

Not the easiest for a first try with the UPA. First you will have to activate your UPA. Once that is done, go to the program window, then go to help/contents, scroll to page 35. That is the pdf. You must cut pins 20 and 72 (resolder after programming), I don't recommend lifting the pins as the track from pin 72 runs under the micro. It is awkward to repair if you break the track when lifting the pin. There is no need to change the crystal. Follow the UPA instructions for readin/writing but use program modified only when programming. The editing you will find earlier in this thread. Arthur.

Thank Arthur, worked a treat.

One question, the details on processor in the bcu were different from the processor on page 35 of the upa pdf. Without captain crackers instructions how would you find out what the correct wire up would be and what pins to lift up?

captain crackers
1st September, 2012, 08:59 PM
I wouldn't worry about it. There are two different mask sets for this BCU but the UPA does both with the same wiring and setup. Just write it all down because it is most likely you will not see another for a long while, if ever again. Arthur.

Tu is best for these never had a problem other than sometimes it doesnt like km programmed so just do it again with different mileage

captain crackers
2nd September, 2012, 10:26 PM
diagtech, a TU might be slightly more convenient as you can tap in the kms. but if you know what you are doing, a UPA is more than equal. " sometimes it doesnt like km programmed". That never happens with UPA. Arthur.
