Hi guys,
I've tried to make my first step, flashing an image to my new DM800, without much success.
The following failed
- flashing using DreamUP serial, null cable - cannot get connection (wait 15min)
- flashing using DreamUP using ethernet connection to my PC - cannot get connection since DM800 shows dhcp above STOP. How can I change its ip?
- flashing using flashwizard6.3- can run telnet but cannot mount USB. Software does not recognize compact flash nor HD.
- flashing using FTP - can run it but where should I put my image?
Pls advice mates!

Just do it like this. Download DreamUp then connect your dreambox to your computer via null modem cable but DON'T power up the dreambox. Then start DreamUp, uncheck the "use network" box and click connect. Now power up your dreambox and wait until the inactive buttons get activated. You should do a flash erase with DreamUp by clicking on erase to get the old junk out of your flash. Then click on the flash button and choose the Image you want to install on your dreambox. Now all you have to do is wait until it's finished. After it's finished successfully connect your dreambox to your tv set. turn it on and do a flash erase. If all went well your dreambox should work again.

Ok so you might have a problem with your Data cable if your not getting any connection between devices, I take it that the receiver is working normaly as it was when you got it ?

Here is a tool pack for dreambox try a different version of dreamup, If the receiver is working normaly run a factory restore and try dreamup again, if all fails get yourself a new Null modem cable.

Download tools here.

I am sure I read somewhere that you have to see the telnet method similar to flashing the dm600 via telnet to flash the dm800.

I checked the cable, it's OK. The only reason can be com4, I'll check it.
Thanks for the tools!:)

Im sorry Tadsat I got mixed up with the 600 Its the Dm800 you have, Try this m8 it should sort you out.

Flashing a new firmware (image) by Browser

What you need to flash
You need the image file you want to flash. Image files have the extension *.nfi. You can't flash other
images like *.img files. Don't try it - it won't work.
You need either a DHCP server, a configured bootloader or a serial cable and a terminal program
like HyperTerm.
You need a browser, and a network cable. If you connect the Dreambox directly to the PC,
you need a cross cable, if you connect trough a switch/hub/router you need a normal
(non-cross) cable.
To flash a new image, you can use the second stage loader. It must be present and not broken.
The following steps assume you have a DHCP server. If you don't have one, you have to setup
an IP address in the bootloader's serial setup.

- Power down the Dreambox, either using "shutdown" and by removing the power connector.

Standby is not enough!

http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/dm800/Bilder/front_pfeil.jpg

- (1.) Press and hold the power button. Replug the power connector into the Dreambox.
- (3.) A text "*** STOP ***" should appear. Now you can release the button.
The bootloader entered the "waiting" mode.
- (4.) Above the "*** STOP ***" text, there should appear an IP-address
(four decimal values with a dot in between). If there appears the string "dhcp" instead,
the box still searches for a DHCP server. Wait a bit. If it doesn't change, something doesn't
work with the DHCP server. Check wether network cable is plugged in etc. If it just doesn't
work, set an IP using the serial terminal)

http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/dm800/Bild/WebInterface.jpg

* - Now, open a browser on your PC.
(1.) enter in the address line "http://ip/" (where ip must be replaced with the value in the LCD).
- (2.) on the bottom of the page, there's a link called "firmware upgrade". Click it.

http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/dm800/Bilder/WebInterface2.jpg

* - On the next page, you can select the flash image you want to flash. be sure that it has the ".nfi" extension.
You can't flash other images (like .img)!
- Click on "FLASH!" and wait. It might take some time to upload and flash the image.
- Switch the box off again, and on again. The new image should be flashed and working.

Hi
I want to install Nabilo BH 0.7 to my DM800.
I can't connect to it with browser (by typing it's ip address "192.168.1.3") or with HyperTerminal.
After I press power button and plug power cord the LCD display only show "STOP" without it's IP address "192.168.1.3".

Also with Dreamup I couldn't flash dreambox.
After I press Dreamup "connect" button and after it's message to power DM00 , if I press power button dm800 start booting normally and flashing is impossible.
