Hi can i ask for some advice on here im new to all this and im armed with a galletto and winols ive got my ecu file but far to scared that im going to kill my car doing this myself. My main question is if i cock this up or i use a generic file for my car will i or could i actually kill my ecu or will it be ok as long as ive got the original file as a hard copy to revert back to? There seems to be a lot of hype on car forums about remaps although the ones that do the maps quickly shoot down any one who asks a question like this funnily one guy shot me down then offered me a mapped file for ?50 in a pm :dong:

NEVER use a file from some random dvd or website......this will lock the ecu up.and as for the ecu locking up,it can be rectified but it does depend on what the car is/ecu is....

I guess it depends on the ECU.
Some will have problems with genuine tools, others would be impossible to kill unless you are flicking the ignition on and off during writing.
