after deciding to buy a vu duo( not ordered yet) i was looking for some hard drive to fit in and found one laying around a external freecom 400gb. i open the casing to see the specs:
400GB/7200rpm/8M/PATA.
i assuming that this one is not good right?
thanks

SATA you need m8, or get a converter from ide to sata on the bay, or just use it as an external drive with your VU, easy.

due to short on funds, does the converter works well with the box or i need a sata hard drive. i'm not a fan of external and it will look ugly and missus would kill me.

I use a hard drive for picons/epg/vfd etc etc, a lot of peeps use a usb stick, probably quicker using a usb stick, but if yer not bothered, stick them on the hard drive if funds are tight.
