I really can't find exactly what the 600 can do.


I have been informed that it can pause live TV, and I believe this is done by recording the current channel being viewed.

Can it record one channel whilst watching another?

Basically it seems most buyers of freeview buy one with a twin tuner. Is it not possible to buy a dreambox product that does the same.

I'm not being lazy, I just can't find simple layman's spec of the 600 or 7025.

If the dreambox only has one tuner then you can can't record one channel and watch another. The tuner would be locked to the transponder frequency of the channel being recorded. The pause live tv thing works by streaming the program to the hard disk while showing you the paused picture. When you continue, it will continue to stream the program to the hard disk but it will show you what it's recorded from the start, if that makes sense lol.

there is a dreambox with twin tuners (DM7025) which enable you to record/pause/etc one channel whilst watching another, similer to sky+ and twin tuner freeview models (?399 excluding hardrive from Satstore.co.uk)

With twin tuner freeview boxes and sky+, the EPG is an integral part of the box, enabling you to record set programmes at a click of a button. I am not sure what the EPG is like on the DM7025 with 2 cable tuners. Anyone?

That's the problem for me.

The 600 is a bit like a halfway house. A single tuner pvr is 'old hat' and the 7025 needs to be working trouble free for at least 12 - 18 months to make any kind of sense if being used purely for cable.

With all that taken into consideration, I know why I stick with my 500.

As I believe TIVO do not have twin tuner option I will need to look at Tivo and existing 500 v 600
