HTC desire hd turning itself off

My partners phone htc desire hd keeps turning itself off even when in middle of a game etc. Any ideas? I have checked settings I think! Lol

Sounds like it's overheating mate. Is it mainly when it's plugged in....sounds silly but have you backed up everything you want to keep and done a factory reset or put a new rom on it
