lol :-)

We just do volvo (mainly Diesel)

When we let these guys : http://www.volvocars.com/nl/Documents/Leaflets/Volvo%20Tuning%20september%202011%20v2.pdf
tune a D5 from 120kw to 136kw ,what tool do we need to read the ecu and write it back into another volvo. (obd )
Or is that not possible ?

Off course we need for this a good functioning tool :-)
But what tool should that be ....

mpps standalone master is a good cheap choice for reading and writing i have done a few volvos with mine you need to find a good tuner to write your maps

We bought (clones) galletto, mpps, bdm100.
We tryed to read "something" with the galletto and mpps out of a d5 from 2006.
Nothing happens . Just don't wants to read anything.
any clues about what we do wrong?
The Mpps tells us ECU not found

did not try the bdm yet, I get a "play" ecu in day after tomorrow to see what that tool does.

Did you connect K-line, you can not simply use obd. Galletto can not read flash but read ID ECU, MPPS read only part of flash.

Finally some info to look further into this stuff.
Can somebody explain where to put the K-line (picture) ?

When i understand correctly :
GALLETO can tell witch ecu is in the car
When using mpps, its like the smok tool, just reads part of the flash and write just part of flash back.

bdm 100 when connected to the ecu will work like the x prog ?

Up to 2006 there is an EDC15C... system. These ECU's should be taken out and read in bootmode. Have done few with clone Galletto. EDC16 can be done on a car but there it is necessary to connect to K line of ECU. Kess V2 has special needle to push in unused K line pin of ECU connector. I have done it on BDM100 before I get Kess V2 but BDM pins are on the other side of ECU plate and is glued to ECU base. Takes many pot to detach it without destroying ECU ;)

I use small connector ECU, directly , 1,3,5,41 "+";2,4,6 "-"; 43 K-line

It is complicated for someone who haven't done this before. My advice is to go to the local diler, and pay the man to do this job.
If you don't know what is k-line that is definitely not job for you.

go to a pro tuner he can read write and tune and it will work the first time

hmm, i always thought this forum was for learning and sharing stuff.
That pin 7 of cars obd is k-line i know, but how to connect it to the ecu (seperate wire?) i don't know.

But it's nice to see people are into good advice

the forum isnt all bad, some people will help.....

as for the missing k line...this wire is missing from the ecu to obd plug.so basically, get some thin wire, and make a small eye on one end.(just big enough to slide over the pin 7 terminal on the mpps cable).slide the eyelet over and make sure it wont short out on other terminals.....then take the other end of the wire and place in the correct terminal ecu end...

Hi
I made a short cable from a car obd soldered little clamps to it.
Went to the farmacy and bought a big injection needle took the plug witch contains pin nr 43 pushed the needle all the way in the hole of pin 43 to get the plastic out mounted the plug again and stuk the needle in the hole i made.
putted the + on the battry
- on ground
and started the programs , both galletto and mpps started reading after telling what type off ecu is in the car.
I got 2 files , next step will be what to do with them and finding out the way to write back.
so:
pin 16 obd = +
pin 4 obd = -
pin 7 obd = needle in hole 43 ecu

excellent.....once you get the file modded the write back will be as easy...click write, find file and let mpps do the work..

Hi,

Again some real newbee questions, :-)

From a 163 hp Volvo V70 D5 automatic gearbox from 2006, I took the full flash and the eeprom with bdm after that it's tuned by Volvo to 185 hp then i did read it again.
What program should i use to see the difference between those files?.
Suppose I can notice any difference or, is the file totally different.
What i want is actually to use the 185hp file for other same building year Volvo D5 163hp cars (or parts of it), to have the official tune from Volvo into the next car.
Hope to learn a bit from this stuff :-)
