Hi,
I had setup my 500 with the excellent help you get in the forums before it was fried by Gemini. I am now thinking of moving on and up with another dreambox, perhaps the due soon HD box, are they just the same type of setup or am i moving into unknown areas?

are you talking 500c or 500s here ?
if i was you i would maybe go for the 600, not that much difference apart from the add hard drive option, and extra memory.
costs nearly twice as much as the 500, .
Both Very similar to Flash e.t.c, but use different images.

I think the 800 / 8000 Dreamboxes are using similar architecture as the 7025, that being the case they will be based on the Enigma2 GUI which is Python based rather than C.
In a nutshell what that means is that Enigma2 GUI is slightly behind Enigma in terms of features, but will catch up quickly as more people get 800/8000's
I have the 7025 using Gemin2 and its stable and works well and is a lot smoother than the Enigma1 image of the 500's. missing a few features but there more plugins being written all the time. The 7025's worth a look as well even though its not HD it has twin-tuners which makes it great for PVR functions.

What's the deal with HiDef on V.
Does anyone know when or if they will start broadcasting more than just BBC HD.

Hey foofighterUK. I was thinking of moving up to a 7025+ with twin cable tuners. Is your's cable? If so, how is it, any glitches? Whats the EPG like on it? Could you select something to record in the coming days by selecting and pressing record like Sky+? How far does the epg go?What image are you running?
Sorry for so many questions
thanks

Hi Biggles, Ive got twin Sat tuners as theres no cable in my area :-( so it might be different for the cable tuners, on sat there is no EPG to speak of only now & next ( altough I use an excellent program on the PC called TVBrowser which sends timer events to the dreambox, so I can do series links and forward scheduling that way. )
As a satellite receiver i am very impressed, it is stable and much improved over the 500 boxes ( ive got two of them ), I think as the new images come about it will be an excellent choice, although still very much a hobby box and nowhere near as user friendly as sky+. Im running Gemini2 3.4, ive tried a few images and liked the LT image and Pli but found gemini more stable.
If you've got a dreambox already I would definately suggest getting a 7025+, if its your first box you might be better with a 600 as there is a lot to learn.
Hope this helps.
Good luck

Only really have experience with the 600. It's a pretty nice box with a close enough configuration to the 500 that you can get help easily. There are just so many more people with these boxes.

I have 7020 & 500 and I found 7020 nice and easy configuration, friend of mine got recently the 7025 with Dual Tunners and he is happy with it. Is the DM8000 released to public yet?
