got an issue hooking up speakers to flat screen

hi guys i decided that the speakers on my bush flat screen need upgrading so i decided to take the back off it disconnect the internal speakers.

the existing cable going to the two speakers ive ran out the back added two new cables to the internal speakers and ran out the back to i connected the existing cables to the two new speakers i was going to use and never got sound but when i connected them to the cables coming from the internal speakers then two new ones worked. any ideas why that would be?

From what you wrote Im not exactly sure how you've done your wiring up so cant work out why it didnt then did work.. But,

Did you know, you could damage the amp in the TV if you connect up speakers that are not meant for it.. If I was you I would have just used the TV's Headphone or Audio output into a seperate amp going into your desired speakers... Gotta be better and safer than a bodge of wires trailing out the back of the TV...

as nibblitz said connect wrong speakers up and tv output amp will blow,all down to ohms of speaker.get a cheap cinema system or even a simple speaker system for pc as long as own powered.both around ?15 to ?35. in C/C or C/G. pity not in my neck of woods,got a cracking set of dj speakers in a cupboard,doing nowt.
