The MC model Ipod touch was never jailbroken past an untethered jailbreak as far as Im aware. Its an Ipod Touch 2nd Gen for those who might wonder.
I have 2 MB Ipod touch 2nd Gen both of which are MB models and I use redsn0w, I would try the newer versions of Redsn0w and see what it says. The newer version brakes the MB with no problem I did it last week.
It might now be that you can jailbreak untethered. but you cant have custom backgrounds and custom logos from what I seem to recall reading somewhere. iOS 4.2.1 is as high as you can go with the 2nd gen devices. I would check the Redsn0w details for the exact abilities with regards to the MC model.
Hope this helps :)

Stay on 5.1.1 for an UnTethered jailbreak....if you update to 6.0.1 you will have a Tethered jailbreak[undesirable]
