Hi guys... im looking to take a leap and go from cable to sat... My kryptview is doing my head in..

I am looking at putting a 0.8-1m dish on the back of my flat... Ground floor so the dish will be roughly 3-4m from ground level (on an almost south facing wall). The buildings in front of where the dish is going to be situated, are only single storey and quite a bit away. I'm located in Central Scotland..

I have been looking at dishes and have seen some transparent ones available. Are these any good? I don't want my neighbours complaining about the size of the dish so I thought a transparent dish might make it less of an issue.

TIA

Gav

What Sats are you after, if just sly, standard mini dish would do

The honest answer is... i'm not sure..

Sly is the primary one but I am quite interested in seeing what is available on some of the other European sat's..

I am totally open to any advice anyone can give me... I am feeling a bit out of my depth at the moment :-)

ideally you want a motorised dish then, but neighbours may object to motor noise as well as the size of it

Really? Are they that loud? The dish is going to be situated between the kitchen and bathroom windows so it's going to be a bit away from any bedrooms...

you need to decide what satellites you wish to view and how many of them

then dicide on fixed dish with 1 lnb, fixed dish with several lnb,s , or motorised dish

if you are worried about size, then you should also be worried about motor noise (the noise varies but seems louder at night)

Clear sat dishes only go up 85cm,so you should pick up most sats needed, motor you can hear them but they aint that bad with the noise depends on how fussy your neighbours are....
