Hi,
i tried to flash a bmw e60 2008 today

wud not read, i tried magpro x17, mpps, even bdm and it wud not communicate

car starts drives etc but will not let me read

also another question, if i might have wrongly connected via BDM, wud that cause it not to communicate?

if i bought another secondhand ecu, wud i just need to swap eeproms???

thanks

if any1 knows about this subject fully wud they chat to me on skype?

its can based ecu, it reads upto 3% then says no repky from ecu

car starts and drives ok.....then ecu must be ok,so your problem is you cant read with no tool......i would check obd connector.go down and check the pins, also, try and do a normal diag with a code reader and see if it reads the car over can.....amybe there a can problem...

but saying that,bdm should read.

He's also tried to bdm it so I would not have thought that the problem lies with the obd connector mate. Could the ecu require more voltage maybe?

yer your right there, but with bdm,i would have thought it would read...edc16 on the bench rules out the obd connection....weird.

When reading/writing these ecu's on the bench must the voltage still be above 14v?

the bdm supplys its own voltage....so it should do a read.

i dont no to be honest, but if it still runs after i would say all is ok...have you run a diagnostics on it ,just to see if there is anything there.

No. Because is a EDC16 you must clone 1:1 old ECU in new ECU (flash, MPC, eeprom)

if you try to read width Bdm , it should work !
so there is no CAN problem and if it was you can not read ecu identification by OBD port ,I think !
when you try to read width bdm ecu identification appears ?! width bdm it"s always possible to flash and flash !
never try to swap SW in cars based CAN ! but is always nedd to coding new parts put in the car ! go to do like LUPU says .
and that one is a expensive car parts !
better go home and see the thing tomorrow width cool head !
