Have a look at this then when you see one you like you can check all specifications. PassMark Software - CPU Benchmark Charts (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/) HTH.

This really does come down to personal choice & possible future use.

Myself, I'd be looking for an I3 processor with at least 2GB of RAM. An SSD harddrive would be nice as well. But I don't think you'll get one for less than ?300 used.

Bottom line, the processor & max memory will be what keeps the laptop viable as the years go on.

I usually need 2to3hours at most to watch a match or stream a movie,my old laptop is sluggish and does not have hdmi so I was wondering were any models more reliable than others to look out for many thanks for the replies you are very generous

If you're buying secondhand I'd say you're best avoiding a laptop with Nvidia graphics and/or an AMD processor, because they run hot, have had a seriously hard life and they last nowhere near as long as an Intel based Laptop with onboard Intel graphics.. Just my opinion though, choice is yours..

That's a nice toy for the price. The Pentium processor won't have the same grunt as an I3, but it's still more than capable for what's being asked for.

That is actually priced within the netbook range, but I've never found a netbook that can offer HDMI output.
