Can anyone help with possible cause:

2004 scenic 1.6 petrol, had fault for cam sensor signal, but ran and start fine.

2 weeks later, car wont idle at all, need to keep throttle down to start.

Still only fault for cam sensor signal, no other faults. In live data, shows idle control as 'inactive' at all times.

Im quite sure that the cam sensor is not causing this as it ran fine with this fault for weeks.

Any help would be great, thanks, ninja

I had a similar problem with a megane ii 1.6 and the problem was the pins on the connector of the throtle. I changed the pins and everything was ok. I also had a fault code for the camsaft sensor

check inlet manifold vacuum with a gauge should have a reading of 20-21 in
if you have a low reading or flutter not steady on reading
the valve timing is not correct
then check timing belt is properly on the timing

If timing belt jumped, you would have fault codes for cam/crank corelation??
Checked wiring/plugs at throttle unit, all ok.
Is there a known fault with ecu that gives my symptoms?

If you have an osciloscope try to read cam signal.
Maybe cam sensor fault was intermitent and now it became present at all the times.
Since there is no idle switch inside the throtle body and the readings in live data are correct you have to focus to the fault code for cam sensor.
I assume that you already checked throtle body and cleaned it.

no scope mate, ill try a cam sensor, but Im still doubtfull that a faulty cam sensor would cause no idle??
