Hi, I have a E70 BMW with a D80D0WQ chip on the board. I need to change the VIN as well as reset the KM. I found this tool R270 which the software/hardware will erase the milage but has no editor to change the VIN. I was thinking If I bought this tool to erase milage and then also bought Xprog-m v5.0 to open the BIN file, does Xprog-m have an interface to easily change the VIN or is there a piece of software I can download to load the BIN file and change the VIN easily? I am trying to make this simple for me but after I keep reading the forums I can't find out what will let me change the VIN, only milage. If no software exists, how do people change the VIN as I am fitting a used cluster from another vehicle.

I think the calculator VIN NONE. overlooked all the data from the old chip.
km for a change or need for a new M35080 chip or erasure tool.Whit X.prog can you change the address data from 0030 ..... until the end.

Vasa. I don't understand what you mean. If I follow this thread http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f174/e46-cluster-swap-problems-95010/ (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f174/e46-cluster-swap-problems-95010/) and just buy the R270 and edit 0x200 and the other location is that the same location for the E70 as the E46, or is the hex location different?

For some reason I figured there was some software program that I could just load up the bin file and just select VIN and change it. Will the above option work instead since none exists?

I believe BMW Commander from Abritus can do this. If you post the bin file I and PM me the vin I will check it out for you.

thanks PremierD, I was thinking that was it as well. So how do I go about changing it? Do I just edit the ASCII section? Or better yet, to make it a virgin so I can program and code with NCSExpert without failure, should it be 00's in HEX, or FF ?? I find no information in the forums after extensive searching. Seems like it would be simple but this so far has not even been close to simple. Thanks so much!!!

Why does it seem to just be too simple? Can you test the dump and verify it is valid since I am a noobe and this is my first attempt in doing this task. Also, if I want to change the KM's to blank, do I just change the 06 1C to 00's or FF's, and the last hex number of 1B for the second line of the KM's, does that also become 00 or FF? i realize I will need to buy a new blank chip to program, but I want to make sure I got the .bin file all correct and ready to program. Thank you SOOO MUCH!!!!

Also, when I read this posting with the E46 changing the VIN is quite different then just editing the ASCII side as shown here: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/attachments/f174/11938d1266557791-e46-cluster-swap-problems-bmw-e46_tamper_dot.jpg
I am so confused
