serial cables

can anyone give advice the serial cables on my computer as said windows as stopped this device from working ,because it has reportd problem code 43,also the com ports have stopped working and have warning codes 10 and 34 any advice would be most welcome:

have you recently added some hardware to your pc or changed your os? code 43 seems to be a driver problem

just added mp3 player disc ,also mobile phone disc

remove them one at the time, that way you will find which, or if any of them causes the trouble, if not try a system restore.

they are all showing problems as i said code 10 ,34 ,43 if i do a system restore will i lose all my programmes i have installed ? the problem is very likely drivers as krypton as said
