I currently have a dm800se running off a sky dish but would like to upgrade to a motorised dish so I can pick up other satalites but would also like to add another dm800se in another room aswel is this possible?
will I be able to control the dish from both boxes?
what sort of price am I looking at for the dish?
thanks

dont think it can be done mate as any motor ive ever seen only has one feed coming from it but i could be wrong
also depends what size dish and type of motor ya want to get a price most people use a 1m dish can pick up kits on ebay cheap enough http://www.ebay.ie/itm/80cm-MOTORISED-SATELLITE-DISH-KIT-GOLD-0-1db-LNB-/271005251437?pt=UK_ConEle_SatCableFreeview_RL&hash=item3f192bf76d

You can buy a dual LNB and run both boxes from that. The price depends on the size of dish you want to install. Have a look on flea bay to give you an idea of prices.

I use a dual lnb but only one box controls the motor, the other box connects direct to the lnb

Sorry never read your post properly, as Ramjet said you can only control it from one box :)

It can be done through a switch, but then you can only have one box on at once better to go the Dual LNB route as already mentioned.

ive had two boxes runnin on a motorised dish but as stated
1 main box will control the dish, whatever the main box is on ie 19.2e then the second box will have to watch 19.2e
im doing away with my motor and got a triple lnb holder, with quad output lnbs(x3) and that way one box can be on 19.2e,and other box can be on either 19.2e,13e,28.2e with out affecting each other

Hi. I think a two way Diseqc switch should do it. You need a dual LNB so you can watch channels on both polarities from the two boxes. If you have single LNB you can only watch channels from same polarity on both boxes. I will try the diseqc switch setup tomorrow and see if it works.

I would not recommend connecting 2 boxes to a diseqc switch as both boxes will put out voltages and damage can occur
on my system I have a 4 way diseqc switch connected between one box and the diseqc motor on lnb 1,(lnb 2 is not in use yet) and the switch also has a feed from 28e on lnb 3 and a feed from hispasat on lnb 4 with the common going to the spiderbox
in this arrangement the lnb 1 coax cable goes to the motor, then to 1 of the 2 lnb outputs on the dual inverto ultrablack lnb
in this manner the motor can be used on any satellite, but if I switch to 28e or to 30w the switch switches to a fixed feed leaving the motor where I parked it
the second box is connected to a similar arrangement, a diseqc switch is used to provide various feeds to the box, and one of those feeds is from the motorised dual lnb so that second box can use either a fixed feed from various lnb,s on popular satellites like 28e or 30w or 19e or 13e, or it can use the second feed from the motorised lnb
this way both boxes get various options on feeds, but as I said earlier only one box controls the motorised system, meaning if the second box needs a certain motorised satellite then the first box has to be used to send it there
however, if the boxes want to use popular satellites they have their own independent feeds and there are times the motor is not in use at all. its there to serve the boxes with less popular satellites only
I hope what I have written makes sense
in my eyes the only permanent method of allowing 2 boxes to control a motor is to have them daisy chained using the loop out of box A cabled to the sat in of box B , but this reduces the channel availability unless you place box A on standby which then allows box B full control of the motor and lnb
one other alternative is an A-B manual switch that sends the motorised cable feed to either box A or to box B for full control by either box,but that means only one box can be used at a time

Ramjet good points. I think it will work if you have one box switched off and use the other box. This set up is good if you have a box in the living room and one in the bedroom for example. So during the day you use the living room box and at night you use the bedroom box one. Like i said i will try it out tomorrow on two TM5400's and see what happens as i am sure it will work . I am curious to see what the motor does with this setup.
Take care.

use a twin output dual (twin) universal lnb on a motorised dish
mine is the twin output inverto ultrablack which cost about ?21 from ebay

Thanks for the quick response does no one sell it already as a package ie a motorised dish with twin output?

you would normally buy the bits separately and make your own bespoke installation
I bought all my own parts and installed mine myself
I cannot answer for what retailers or installers wish to do or not do

Hi. Thought you might be interested in this. I have a
motorized TM5400 which i can view and control the motor from the kitchen and bedroom tv's. I use a video sender with infra red remote( MAGICEYES). With this video sender i am able to change channels and satellites from different rooms. If this sort of thing appeals to you then here are the details of my video sender:
MAKER: AEI SECURITY & COMMUNICATIONS
MODEL: DigiSender
PRODUCT CODE: 534/2608
COST: Around 60 pounds(about 5 years ago).
Not sure if this model is still available as i bought mine about 6 years ago and still working great. I also installed a number of these for people who also wanted to watch satellite tv in different rooms. They are very easy to setup. Remember if you do buy one make sure it has the infra red (MAGICEYES) function.
Take care.
