Hi All.
Anyone got any ideas/ theories on this:
A mate of mine has a W204 C200 year 2009 from new. The steering lock (ESL) failed and it had to got to the Merc dealer for a new ESL to be fitted (a common problem I'm told).
The car went in with +-189 000km on it and get this: Was returned a few days later with 306 000km on it.
The mileage has never been altered, or even an attempt made on it.
The merc dealer says it was like that, but my mate has a towing receipt that shows otherwise......etc. Also the car has not been serviced at the dealer since +- 30 000km ages ago, so there is no mileage record with them of any use. But that's going to be another interesting story for another day on its own.
What Im asking is this: What could have been done that would cause the mileage to jump while in the process of having a new ESL fitted?
All I can think of is someone maybe "tested" a high mileage cluster on the car while it was there, causing the EIS mileage to go up therefore putting his custer's mileage up when refitted.
What do you think???
Regards
J
